With a line up already boasting IRON MAIDEN, RAMMSTEIN, MÖTLEY CRÜE and SLAYER amongst others, SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH has rolled out another five fantastic acts, showcasing the diversity and range of music it has to offer.

British Alt-rockers PLACEBO returns to the big stage in 2010 for an exclusive festival appearance at KNEBWORTH, having graced the main stage at Reading & Leeds 2009. With over 10 million albums sold, and packed arenas everywhere they go, PLACEBO have achieved huge success in their 15 year career, including the accolade of “Best Alternative” at this year’s MTV Awards. BRIAN MOLKO’s sexually charged glammed up alternative rock is a welcome addition to SONISPHERE, one that highlights the eclectic line up, and we look forward to hits like “Nancy Boy”, “Every You Every Me” and “Pure Morning”.

Flying in from sunny California, PAPA ROACH will be making an exclusive UK festival appearance at SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH. The multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated quartet are known for their outstanding live performances, which frontman JACOBY SHADDIX describes as being “like the last tribal experience”. With hits such as “Last Resort”, “Getting Away With Murder” and latest single “I Almost Told You That I Loved You” in their arsenal, their set will be one to watch.

One of Britain’s hardest working bands, Sheffield’s BRING ME THE HORIZON have built up a dedicated army of followers through countless gigs and festival appearances. If there’s one thing that’s certain about BMTH, it’s that they will provoke some kind of reaction. Bringing back the spirit of rebellion, this band are everything an “extreme” band should be – fiercely heavy, abrasively loud, controversial and completely indifferent to what you think of them, and we’re delighted to have them at KNEBWORTH next summer.
After being forced to pull out of their scheduled SONISPHERE 2009 performance, it’s with great pleasure that we can confirm the return of LA Cyber-Metallers FEAR FACTORY. The band were forced to cancel their 09 appearance to concentrate on their new album, “Mechanized”, which is set for a March 2010 release. SONISPHERE is delighted to offer fans the first chance to see the reunited DINO CAZARES and BURTON C BELL perform classics such as “Replica”, “Edgecrusher” and “Linchpin” in a festival setting in the UK.

The first non-musical act to be announced at next years SONISPHERE is the multi-talented HENRY ROLLINS. The former Black Flag frontman weighs in with one of his astounding spoken word performances for a special Sunday morning sermon at BOHEMIA. With a career that has included fronting a legendary hardcore band, acting in movies and TV productions, presenting shows on both radio and TV and authoring several books, as well as being an activist for various high-profile causes, fans can expect a show full of the wit, humour and insight harvested from his truly unique life.

METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH AND ANTHRAX ADD EXTRA SHOW

As promised, SONISPHERE FESTIVALS have confirmed another date with the amazing BIG FOUR line up. The third festival to feature the history making combination of METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will be held in SWITZERLAND, with special guests HEAVEN & HELL, MOTORHEAD, and many more to be confirmed.

Said METALLICA drummer LARS ULRICH on the initial BIG FOUR announcement:

“Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time…what a mindfuck! Bring it on!”

* METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH AND ANTHRAX TO PERFORM TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY *

* THE BIG FOUR CONFIRMED FOR SONISPHERE POLAND AND CZECH REPUBLIC *

* MORE BIG FOUR APPEARANCES AT SONISPHERE SHOWS PLANNED *

The world wide web has been abound with speculation on a possible “BIG FOUR” tour for several months. Now, SONISPHERE can exclusively reveal that METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will play together for the first time in history, in a move that will have metalheads across the globe frenzied with excitement.

Says LARS ULRICH/METALLICA of this historic announcement:
“Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time…what a mindfuck! Bring it on!”

“It's about fucking time this happened,” said SLAYER’s KERRY KING. “and about time the fans finally get what they want. This is fucking awesome.”

ANTHRAX guitarist SCOTT IAN agrees, commenting on the enormity of the announcement.

“People have been talking about these four bands playing together since 1984. That's twenty-six years of expectation!!! And the thing is, I believe not only will we live up to the expectations, we will shatter them!! No other four bands as influential as the four of us have ever done this. Imagine if The Beatles, Stones, The Who and Zeppelin had done shows? Or Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Motorhead? Well, I may be getting into some rarified air here but as a fan, that's how big I feel this is.”

These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement to dominate the metal world in the 1980s, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. The metal giants have never before all shared the same stage, despite huge demand. But on 16th June 2010, METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will take to the SONISPHERE stage at Bemowo Airport, Poland, to make the dreams of headbangers the world over become a reality. A second Big Four appearance is planned for SONISPHERE CZECH REPUBLIC three days later, with more SONISPHERE shows featuring the awesome combo to be announced in the coming days and weeks.

“This is a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity for Heavy Metal “Fans” to see the four greatest Heavy Metal “Bands” in American History back together on one stage” concludes MEGADETH mainman DAVE MUSTAINE. “If there are any heads left at the end of this Festival that haven’t banged, they don’t belong there.”

Having established itself as the “Best New Festival” at the 2009 UK Festival Awards, SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH moves from strength to strength with the announcement of our phenomenal 2010 headliners, as well as the first of many great bands for the three day event over July 30, 31 and Aug 1.

With the power to rock the very foundations of Knebworth Hall itself, the weekend headliners, both renowned for sensational live shows, are British Metal titans
IRON MAIDEN – for whom KNEBWORTH will be their only UK appearance of 2010 – and German industrial rock monsters RAMMSTEIN, who make their first – and only 2010 – UK Festival appearance.

The legendary IRON MAIDEN, whose last UK concert was a sold out show to 50,000 fans at Twickenham Stadium in July 2008, are the biggest selling British Metal band of all time, with album sales in excess of 80 million based on a huge following around the planet built on extensive and spectacular World Tours and the sheer excitement of their live performances. Brit Award winners for BEST BRITISH LIVE ACT earlier this year, Maiden have been at the forefront of Metal for over twenty-five years and continue to go forward with ever increasing success both critically and commercially. Their last tour alone visited 38 countries and played to 2 million passionate fans, with the recent award winning DVD “Flight 666” of this tour making it to No 1 in 25 countries including the UK and USA, where it is still the top selling music DVD so far this year. We are delighted to present a rare opportunity for Sonisphere fans to see one of the world’s truly unique and legendary bands in the magnificent setting of the grounds of Knebworth.

Prior to playing a few selected dates next summer, Maiden are currently working on a new album expected to be released late next year. Iconic frontman Bruce Dickinson took time out to comment:

“Knebworth has been the home of so many legendary concerts going back many years it really will be a privilege to play there. We enjoy the camaraderie of playing great festivals and are very much looking forward to getting back out to do some shows next summer and, as it will be over two years since we played the UK, we will certainly be looking to deliver a memorable and spectacular night for our fans!”

RAMMSTEIN, against all odds, have become one of the biggest selling industrial metal acts of all time since their formation 1994. Despite singing in their native German tongue, the band has enjoyed huge success across the globe notably in the UK and the US, making them one of Germany’s biggest musical exports. Famed for outrageous and electric live shows, fans at Knebworth can expect fire, lasers, smoke and a hefty amount of explosives. SONISPHERE are proud to not only have the band headline at Knebworth, but also to host the band’s debut UK festival performance.. Currently out on a world tour in support of their latest album, “Liebe Ist Für Alle Da”, the band commented on their headline slot:

“The great support that we’ve experienced from the UK fans has been beyond anything we expected. This will be the first time that Rammstein has appeared at a festival in the UK and we are looking forward to putting on a show that no-one will ever forget!”

In addition to the two headliners, we already have a host of major acts confirmed – and it’s not even Christmas yet!!

There is much more to come with dozens more bands to be announced in the new year – metal, rock, hardcore, thrash, classic, indie, punk, you name it, we will have it. From well-established rock icons to the hottest new names, if they rock and are worth seeing, they will be playing at Knebworth. Keep up to date on all the developments at our website www.sonispherefestivals.com

So it is with great anticipation that we can already announce the following line up -

Firstly, the exclusive UK appearance of two bona-fide thrash legends.

From the west coast of America, the heaviest of the heavy, SLAYER will take to the Knebworth stage to deliver furious metal delivered at breakneck speed. The Grammy nominated LA Kings of Thrash have not appeared at a UK festival for 3 years, and their exclusive appearance at SONISPHERE this summer will be a welcome return to a festival stage in the UK.

Complementing this performance, from New York, speed metal kings ANTHRAX return to Knebworth with John Bush back in the fold. Alongside SLAYER and last year’s headliners METALLICA, ANTHRAX are one of the BIG FOUR who have made Thrash metal what it is. Comments guitarist Scott Ian

“God-damn we couldn't be more thrilled about being a part of Sonisphere 2010!!!! We are still buzzing from our insane show at Knebworth last summer and are drooling over the fact that we are a part of this history making festival!! What an amazing Xmas present for Anthrax and our fans. See you all very soon!!”

Flying in from LA for their only UK show of 2010, Glam-metallers MÖTLEY CRÜE will be bringing with them their sleaze-drenched Rock. The embodiment of the Rock’n’Roll spirit and with over 80 million albums sold, the Crue will be armed with a catalogue of hits as VINCE NEIL, TOMMY LEE, NIKKI SIXX and MICK MARS shock their way through anthems such as “Girls, Girls, Girls”, “Dr Feelgood”, “Kickstart My Heart” and “Shout At The Devil”.

THE CULT, also making an exclusive UK festival appearance, have marked England’s place on the global rock map, being one of the few UK hard-rock bands to truly break in the US. They enjoyed six top-ten albums, with a string of hit singles amassing a huge and dedicated fan base. IAN ASTBURY and co will be making their first UK festival appearance in nearly a decade at Knebworth next summer.

With so many legends on the bill already, one would think it impossible to confirm more so early on. But we can announce that IGGY & THE STOOGES are also set to play an exclusive UK festival show. Instrumental in making Metal, Alternative and Punk Rock – all essential ingredients of SONISPHERE – what it is today. IGGY, notorious as the Godfather of Punk, and his band will be highly anticipated we are sure and will certainly make their presence felt!

SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH is set to be an even bigger monster in 2010, with the extra day of music added. Friday 30th July will see the festivities getting started with a Rocky Horror show theme, and ALICE COOPER – the legendary godfather of theatrical rock – suitably closing the evening on the SATURN stage at his only UK festival performance of 2010. With hits such as “Schools Out”, “Poison” and “Hey Stoopid” plus a full theatrical set, the iconic singer is the perfect focus for the evening’s theme. Fancy dress is expected and encouraged. In addition to the acts on SATURN, there will be bands performing on two tented stages from 6pm until 11pm.

Regular campers will have access to the campsite from 12pm on the Friday, but for a mere £5, the festival campsite will open for early campers at 3pm on Thursday 29th July, with Bohemia village open from 6pm Thursday right through until 3am Sunday morning, for non-stop fun with white knuckle rides, dodgems, arcades, comedy, massage, bars, market stalls, and cafes to chill out in.

If you missed out on last year getting to Knebworth Park is EASY! Only 25 minutes from London and 2 hours from Birmingham, Knebworth is right on the A1(M) and served by a mainline train station. Add to that the FREE shuttle service and coach packages offered by Sonisphere and you can be sure you will be standing in front of the Apollo stage in no time. See our website for fuller details. www.sonispherefestivals.com
With an already fantastic line-up taking shape, plus a whole host of awesome new names to be revealed in the new year, plus full weekend tickets including camping for only £157.50 – with NO BOOKING FEE – and with a deposit scheme of only £40, there really is no reason to wait. KATAKLYSM – album news

KATAKLYSM is in full writing mode at the moment for the follow up to the “Prevail” album. The band has also confirmed the mixing duties for the next offering.

Comments guitarist J-f Dagenais:
“I'm really excited to be deep into the writing process for the new KATAKLYSM album, the band is more focused then ever: This album will be different then “Prevail”, but will still have the classic KATAKLYSM trademarks and hooks. You will see a much more intricate record then weve done in the past. It will contain some really fast and dynamic parts, but we will also aim on a very melodic driven record and it will contain lots of technical parts as well that we haven't explored much lately. And no worries, the bone crushing grooves are always a must with KATAKLYSM and will be present. I’ve also seen Maurizio's lyrics for this album so far and let me tell you that they hit really hard. I know it’s a very personal album to him as he is going through some tough times in his personal life. So I’m not worried on what he will bring to this record, so expect a very real, aggressive and determined KATAKLYSM album! We know we have set the bar high for ourselves, but we are confident to deliver the goods once again. On the production end I will handle the recording as usual, but for the mix we have decided to enlist Tue Madsen from Denmark. We feel he captured best the band’s sound on “In the arms of devastation”. We feel it’s a winning team and we’re gonna make sure you have the best sounding record to date.”

On X-mas day on the band`s Facebook, Twitter and Myspace pages, KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono will reveal the band’s new album title. The album is scheduled for release late summer / early fall 2010.
