VOLBEAT

DANISH ROCKABILLY METALLERS FORCED TO CANCEL HEADLINE TOUR OF UK & IRELAND AS FRONTMAN WAITS FOR ‘MEDICAL CONDITION TO STABILISE’…

VOLBEAT, THE Danish quartet whose latest ‘Beyond Hell/Above Heaven’ album has taken them to arena status in Europe, have been forced to cancel all of the shows on their debut headline tour of the UK & Ireland due to vocalist/ guitarist Michael Poulsen having to remain under strict medical supervision.

The band had already pulled the first five dates of the tour in the hope that a few days of uninterrupted rest would enable Poulsen to return

to full fitness; sadly; this hasn’t proved to be the case…

Volbeat, affiliated to the Spinefarm label in the UK, deeply regret the cancellation of the 13 shows; fans will, of course, be able to reclaim their money from point of purchase.

The following official statement has just been issued:-

“As you may or may not be aware, Volbeat had to cancel the first five shows of their UK tour…

“After the completion of the mainland European shows, Michael was suffering from exhaustion and has had to undergo various tests at hospital.

”We were anticipating the tour going ahead from Dec 1st; however, it has now become apparent that this is not going to be viable, and we are going to have to cancel all the UK dates forthwith. We are hoping to be able to reschedule these, but have no fixed dates at this time to be able to do so, hence this being a cancellation rather than keeping all tickets valid.

“Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience, and we will of course let you know as soon as we have further news.”

Children Of Bodom Reveal New Album Details and UK Tour Dates

CHILDREN OF BODOM TO RELEASE NEW STUDIO ALBUM ‘RELENTLESS, RECKLESS FOREVER’ ON MARCH 7th 2010 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK WITH HEADLINE UK TOUR TO FOLLOW…

CHILDREN OF BODOM, the Finnish five-piece led into action by guitar star Alexi Laiho, will release their new/seventh studio album on March 7th 2010 via Spinefarm Records UK.

Titled ‘Relentless, Reckless Forever’, this meticulously crafted outing – the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Blooddrunk’ – has seen the band working with an outside producer for the very first time; the man in question is famed American studio-meister Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet), who set up shop at Petrax Studios in Finland to put the music to tape, going on to mix the results back in the US…

“We worked super hard on this album – at least for me it was pretty much no sleep and no rest for six weeks,” states Alexi. “But we were determined to make the best COB album ever, so we were willing to do whatever it took. Of course, having our producer Matt Hyde kickin’ our asses 24/7 definitely made the results even better, so as you can imagine, we’re keen to get this one out there!”

WITH ‘BLOODDRUNK’ having charted at 22 in the US and No. 1 in Finland, and with classic Bodom track ‘If You Want Peace… Prepare For War’ currently featuring in video game ‘Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock’, this new album is perfectly tee’d up to be COB’s most significant and successful release to date, with lead single/video ‘Was It Worth It?’ getting the ball rolling on February 7th 2010.

Shot guerrilla-style by director Dale Resteghini (Pink Floyd, Santana, Motley Crue), the video features a number of noted pro skaters, including the world’s No. 1 Amateur Skateboarder Tom Asta, who makes some suitably spectacular moves alongside Chris Cole, the two times Thrasher Magazine ‘Skater Of The Year’…

“The single is a total party song,” says Alexi. “It doesn’t have your typical Bodom sound, but it’s one of my favourites and heavy as hell!”

IN ADDITION to Alexi, voted ‘Best Metal Guitarist’ by the readers of Guitar World, the COB line-up is completed by Roope Latvala (guitar), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Seppala (bass) and Janne Warman (keyboards).

Together, they will be heading out on the road in the UK and Ireland in April of next year, playing six headline shows under ‘The Ugly World Tour 2011’ banner; support comes from Amon Amaarth, Finnish warriors Ensiferum & Swedish modern metallers Machinae Supremacy, the latter pair both Spinefarm labelmates.

The full list of dates is as follows:-

APRIL 2010:

1 – UEA, Norwich
2 – Academy 1, Manchester
3 – ABC, Glasgow
5 – Vicar Street, Dublin
7 – Rock City, Nottingham
8 – Academy, Birmingham
9 – Forum, London

FIRST SOPHIE LANCASTER STAGE BANDS REVEALED

ANGELWITCH and LAWNMOWER DETH CONFIRM ONLY UK FESTIVALS OF 2011

With the cold dark weather around us and the festive season around the corner, August 2011 may seem like a long way off, but BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR have just announced another two exclusive festival appearances in addition to the five already on offer. NWOBHM heroes ANGEL WITCH make their BLOODSTOCK debut on the SOPHIE this year. A name synonymous with the British metal scene in the 1980’s, ANGEL WITCH achieved legendary cult status that decade, with their legacy continuing long after their demise, having become highly influential, with Metallica even citing them as a major influence.

With interest in the band revived after the release of 2000’s “Resurrection” compilation, ANGELWITCH are now back on the scene, and continue to make waves with high profile support slots, and their eponymous song “Angel Witch” being featured on the Brütal Legend videogame. Now BLOODSTOCK can capture the magic of the NWOBHM scene with the appearance of one of it’s top names at BOA 2011.

Another blast from the past – although perhaps not as far back – and also making their BLOODSTOCK debut, comedy Thrashers LAWNMOWER DETH will join ANGELWITCH on the SOPHIE LANCASTER stage. Frontman/loon Qualcast Mutilator expresses his happiness at joining the BOA 2011 line up:

“How chuffed are we to be playing Bloodstock! The forums have been predicting this for several years, who says we don't listen. Well frankly we don't, I thought we were playing Woodstock, but hey, it’s a field, its full of metal, good enough for us. Bring on the party.”

With classic such as “Weeble’s Wobble But They Don’t Fall Down”, “Can I Cultivate Your Groinal Garden” and “Satan’s Trampoline”, festival goers are in for a hilariously heavy treat, and possibly the first KIM WILDE cover in the festival’s history should they decide to unleash their only single “Kids In America”.

MORBID ANGEL, RHAPSODY OF FIRE, TRIPTYKON, THERION and headliners IMMORTAL are already confirmed for the main stage, so BOA 2011 is set to be an unmissable event. What's more, early bird tickets are on sale now at the price of just £90 – rolled back from £99.95 – up to 15th December 2010 and are available from www.bloodstock.uk.com – get yours before this special offer runs out!

BLOODSTOCK – THERION CONFIRM ONLY UK SHOW OF 2011!

THERION CONFIRM ONLY UK SHOW OF 2011

With five exclusive appearances already locked down for BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR’s 2011 event, the UK’s only true METAL festival shows no sign of slowing down for XMAS with the revelation of another fantastic addition to next summer’s line up. Swedish symphonic superstars THERION will bring their spectacular show to Catton Hall for their only UK appearance of 2011, one which they promise will be memorable:

“The band is thrilled to get the opportunity to play the Bloodstock and promise they will impact the island unforgettably”

Founded in 1987, the band have progressed from their death metal beginnings to become something truly special. Epic is too small a word to capture THERION’s grandiose output. The first metal band to utilise an orchestra, genuinely justifying their “symphonic” tag, THERION perfectly blends the best elements of metal – especially it’s darker, more underground side – and classical, utilising choirs and classical instrumentation to create a musical world that one can find themselves totally lost in.

With MORBID ANGEL, RHAPSODY OF FIRE, TRIPTYKON and headliners IMMORTAL already confirmed to appear alongside THERION, BOA 2011 is set to be an unmissable event. What's more, early bird tickets are on sale now at the price of just £90 – rolled back from £99.95 – up to 15th December 2010 and are available from www.bloodstock.uk.com – get yours before this special offer runs out!

Behemoth – Nergal Checks In From Hospital: Bone Marrow Donor Found

NERGAL CHECKS IN FROM THE HOSPITAL: BONE MARROW DONOR FOUND!!!

We’ve just heard straight from the hospital some positive news regarding Nergal’s treatment, who’s checked in with an update:

‘Hello everyone! I’m still in the hospital but in quite good shape so I write to let you know about my health and the further stages of treatment. I’ve been through four planned chemotherapies and have stayed in hospital for over 3 months now. I’ve gone through the whole therapy smoothly, though I also had a couple of difficult moments. All this means I finish the stage of pharmacological treatment and I am about to start the irradiation and then the marrow transplant. Yes, we’ve found a donor! Having searched for months, the foundation has found a person whose genotype is identical to mine. It would have been difficult to achieve if it wasn’t for the support of so many people. Most of all, I want to express my admiration for Dorota – my wonderful and devoted fiancée. She did everything she could to help me and many other people, regardless of adversities and comments which were often unfair. Your help is invaluable! Thank you! I love you. On behalf of me and all other people ill I thank everyone who registered in the bone marrow bank regardless of origin, skin colour or religion. The concerts for charity have been organised all over the world and people of show business, bands and, most of all, the fans got deeply involved. You are beyond great! One of you made my transplant possible, but remember, your attitude may save many others in need. So I appeal to everyone: don’t stop the madness! The march for victory continues! Horns up!’

Threat Signal Announce First UK Tour

Threat Signal Announce First UK Tour

Canadian modern metallers THREAT SIGNAL are on the way to hit the UK in about two weeks.

Jon Howard commented:

“Finally!!! We are flying our Canadian asses over to Europe. We've been looking forward to this moment since we started the band in 2005. We've finally made it happen and we couldn't be more excited! Since we didn't get a chance to tour our first record 'Under Reprisal' in Europe, we've decided we are going to include a lot of those songs in our set list. We will also be playing a few songs from our latest album 'Vigilance'. Raunchy and Sybreed have agreed to join us on the tour, which I'm very happy about. It’s great to play with such influential musicians and actually really enjoy watching the bands play every night. I've been a fan of these bands for years. So if you think your European asses can out drink a Canadian, come down to the show and let’s see what you got! We'll be hanging out in the crowd and it will be a party every single night. Looking forward to meeting all of you! Cheers”

FORBIDDEN SPEAK OF FIRST US TOUR IN 15 YEARS

Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers FORBIDDEN are set to embark on their first tour in 15 years, this time as direct support to Overkill! Immediately proceeding the trek the band will continue on their own headlining tour with Evile, Gamma Bomb, and Bonded By Blood.

“It's been 15 years since FORBIDDEN has actually toured in North America,“ commented an enthusiastic Craig Locicero. “That blows my fucking mind to say it! The funny thing is that even when we did tour here, we never properly did it. It was always a very short cycle with little or no support from the labels. Well, times have changed and so has FORBIDDEN's situation. With Nuclear Blast having our backs and properly promoting and supporting Omega Wave, I feel a sense of hope for this band that we have never felt before. Strange feeling, really. But we will take it.

Our goal is to get better every night and eventually become the live band that we never got to be. That takes dedication and a lot of hard work. We're digging in commiting to just that.

We hope our fans will appreciate us as much as we appreciate them. See you all on the road soon!“
