TAROT, ARTHEMIS, POWERQUEST and CRIMINAL JOIN BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2011 LINE UP

With 10 exclusive appearances already lined up, BLOODSTOCK go into the festive season with four fantastic additions to the 2011 festival.

Flying in from Finland, TAROT make their BLOODSTOCK debut on the RONNIE JAMES DIO stage. Fronted by Nightwish bassplayer Marco Hietala, the Finnish five piece come armed with 25 years of majestic metal material spanning eight studio albums. Perfectly capturing the spirit of the 80s, BLOODSTOCK is in for a treat as TAROT deliver a set of fist pumping metal with huge choruses.

The three latest additions for the SOPHIE stage come from both near and afar, with an international coalition representing the UK, Europe and South Amercia. Homegrown heroes POWERQUEST return to BLOODSTOCK for the second time, after going down a storm at the indoor fest of 2003. Currently gearing up to release new album “Blood Alliance”, the melodic power-metallers can expect a hearty, warm welcome back to CATTON HALL.

Also making a welcome return are Italian thrashers ARTHEMIS, who’s debut UK appearance was at 2009’s BLOODSTOCK Festival. Since then, the fearsome foursome have gone on to do a co-headlining tour of the UK, as well tours with the likes of Dragonfroce, Cradle Of Filth, Glenn Hughes and many others. Having taken their explosive thrash all over Europe, Japan and the unlikely location of Ibiza, ARTHEMIS return to Derbyshire to deliver a set of storming Al Fresco Thrash.

Last, but by no means least, Chilean metallers CRIMINAL make their BLOODSTOCK debut in 2011. Making their mark on the thriving South American Metal scene via shows with Kreator, Slayer and Sepultura, plus a nominiation for Best Rock Video at the MTV Latino Video Music Awards, CRIMINAL relocated to the UK to further spread their impact. The result was appearances at major European festivals such as Wacken and Summer Breeze, plus shows supporting the likes of Six Feet Under, Brujeria, Chimaira and Lamb Of God. Now they bring their unique blend of melodic death, hardcore and thrash metal for what will undoubtedly be a punishing set at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2011.

With a host of exclusive performances already confirmed – including headliners IMMORTAL, plus MORBID ANGEL, THERION, AT THE GATES and many more, across three stages of music, plus comedy, fairground rides and a real ale bar, BOA 2011 is an essential date in the metal calendar. BLOODSTOCK NEWS – AT THE GATES ONLY UK SHOW OF 2011 AT BOA

AT THE GATES ONLY UK SHOW OF 2011 AT BOA

Extreme Metal legends AT THE GATES have confirmed their only UK show of 2011 will take place at next year’s BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR.

“We had such a blast during the 2008 reunion that we decided to do some more shows.” states drummer Adrian Erlandsson. He continues, “We had an amazing gig at Bloodstock in 2008 and are really looking forward to playing there again.”

One of the most influential metal bands of the last 20 years, AT THE GATES made a permanent mark after 1995’s “Slaughter Of The Soul” album captured the imaginations of metalheads the world over. Taking the aggression of death metal and lacing it heavily with melody, the album was released to huge critical acclaim – including a Swedish Grammy nomination – and AT THE GATES looked set to take the world by storm. However, disbanding in 1996 meant that the next chapter was never written. The 12 years that passed left hundreds of thousands of fans hoping that one day they would get to see their heroes again.

Their wish came true, and the AT THE GATES reunion was one of the summer festival highlights across Europe in 2008, as the five piece reminded the metal world why they were so hugely influential. Now, the band return for an exclusive appearance, and BLOODSTOCK is honoured to welcome them back for what is bound to be an unforgettable set at Catton Hall.

With a host of exclusive performances already confirmed – including headliners IMMORTAL, plus MORBID ANGEL, THERION and many more, across three stages of music, plus comedy, fairground rides and a real ale bar, BOA 2011 is an essential date in the metal calendar, and with early bird tickets on sale now at the price of just £90 – up to 15th December 2010 – there’s no reason to wait for your BLOODSTOCK ticket. Got to www.bloodstock.uk.com to get yours now before this special offer runs out!

RECKLESS LOVE
FINNISH SLEAZE ROCKERS ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF NEW ‘COOL EDITION’ OF DEBUT SELF-TITLED ALBUM ON DECEMBER 19th 2010 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK…

RECKLESS LOVE, the Finnish rockers who have burst spectacularly onto the UK scene in 2010, have confirmed the December 19th release of a new expanded version of their debut self-titled album through Spinefarm Records UK – a record originally issued over here in March of this year.

Given the quartet’s recent success both at home and abroad, including two appearances at this year’s Download Festival (where they were cited as ‘2010’s surprise package’ by Kerrang! magazine), a full headline tour of the UK, plus stellar reviews for their album, the time was right for the record in question to be re-released in upgraded form; this new 16-track version – dubbed the ‘Cool Edition’ – features revised artwork plus a number of bonus tracks, including electric, acoustic & remix material.

The five additional tracks are:-

1. ‘Get Electric’ (full band studio recording)
2. ‘Sex’ (acoustic)

4. ‘Back To Paradise’ (acoustic)
5. ‘Back To Paradise’ (remix by Eppu Kosonen)

Amongst the 10 chosen tracks are previously unreleased mixes, a selection of b-sides & bonus numbers, a Killing Joke cover version (‘Love Like Blood’), a Remix courtesy of Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan of Slipknot fame, fresh acoustic recordings, plus a brand new demo (‘More Than Yesterday’) showing just well how the songs for Album 2 are shaping up…

2. Angels Of Clarity (2011 Mix)
3. Stronger (2011 Mix)
4. My Saviour
5. Leaves Falling

7. Angels Of Clarity (Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan
‘Slipknot’ Remix)
8. Losing You (2010 Acoustic Version)
9. Promise Me (2010 Acoustic Version)
10. More Than Yesterday (Demo Version)

SINCE BURSTING onto the scene in 2009, Dead By April’s combination of soaring pop melodies, lethal metal riffing and contemporary production twists has seen them topping the Swedish charts with their debut single/video ‘Losing You’, and hitting the No. 2 spot week one (just behind Green Day) with their self-titled debut album. In addition, the band – currently recording their follow-up release with Rammstein producer Jacob Hellner – have appeared at the Sonisphere Festival (2009), toured over here on two separate occasions (with Skindred & My Passion) and won a number of high-profile industry awards.

‘Stronger’ will give DBA’s ever-growing fanbase a greater insight into the workings of the group while new studio tracks are being forged in earnest…

HOUSTON
NEW SWEDISH OUFIT HAVE ‘AOR ALBUM OF THE YEAR’ RELEASED VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK ON DECEMBER 13th 2010, WITH FIRST EVER UK SHOW TO FOLLOW…

HOUSTON IS a brand new Swedish group centered around the duo of Freddie Allen and Hampus Hank Erix – two young musicians heavily influenced by the great melodic rock acts of the ’70s & ’80s.

The band recently released their debut self-titled album in their native Sweden, seeing it crash into the local charts at No 16! And now, in the wake of this out-of-the-box success,
the album will be made available in the UK via Spinefarm Records UK complete with revised artwork and two bonus tracks.

Already cited as ‘AOR Album Of The Year’ by Classic Rock Magazine, this new version adds the tracks ‘Under Your Skin’ & ‘Chasing The Dream’ – brand new compositions especially recorded to support this re-release.

WITH LEGENDARY melodic rockers Journey, Foreigner & Styx all set to tour together to great success, the time is clearly right for fresh young hopefuls to come through playing music based on traditional song-writing values, stellar musicianship, soaring vocals and HUGE ear-grabbin’ hooks… and Houston the band and ‘Houston’ the album are right at the very head of the pack.

Their record – produced by AOR/West Coast guru Ricky B. Delin and featuring some of rock’s finest players, including Tommy Denander (Paul Stanley), Tomas Vikström (Talk Of The Town) & Mats Olausson (Yngwie Malmsteen) – was picked up straight away by the key taste-makers of the AOR scene (producers, musicians, journalists, djs, promoters, etc.), with the result that a genuine buzz now exists around the project; perfect time then for the band to be playing their first ever UK show…

This will take place at The Borderline in London on March 4th 2011,with an opening act to be announced in due course.

* THE BIG 4 COME TO THE UK FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! *

* SONISPHERE BRINGS METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH & ANTHRAX TO HEADLINE FRIDAY NIGHT *

With two exciting announcements already made, SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH 2011 – which takes place 8th – 10th July 2010 – can now reveal the remaining headliner for next summer’s festival, who will appear alongside Saturday night headliner BIFFY CLYRO and Sunday Festival closer SLIPKNOT.

It is with immense pride and pleasure that we can confirm that SONISPHERE will be bringing together METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX in the UK for the first time in history to headline the Friday night. METALLICA drummer LARS ULRICH explains:

“As soon as the Big 4 gigs started rolling across Sonisphere Festivals in Eastern Europe last summer, we all felt we were part of something special. The vibe within the bands was more than anyone had anticipated and the vibe with the fans was so next level, it completely blew our minds . . . there was no way this should not happen again!!! So I am beyond psyched that the first Big 4 show in Western Europe will take place on the hallowed grounds of Knebworth, where so many unique and special gigs have happened over the years.”

Last summer saw the live debut of THE BIG 4 – as this collective of Thrash legends are commonly known – marking what was possibly the most significant event in the history of metal. Fans all over Europe could barely contain their excitement, as over 500,000 metalheads bore witness to the show they thought they’d never see.

THE BIG 4 fever did not stop at Europe, as fans the world over eagerly anticipated the possibility of seeing the historical show for themselves in their own countries. Such was the demand that a live cinecast of the Bulgarian show saw over 130,000 people turn out to local cinemas, with reports of mosh pits breaking out in movie theatres across the globe. The recently released DVD of the event, which features all four bands collaborating on a cover of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil” as well as their individual sets, has only added fuel to the BIG 4 fire, with a frenzied demand for more performances in the countries not fortunate enough to play host last summer.

Now, SONISPHERE brings the titanic combo of METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX to the UK for the very first time, at this exclusive performance at KNEBWORTH. The legends themselves declare their delight at taking the greatest metal show on earth back out on the road:

“There is simply no better venue for a European round two of the Big 4!!” METALLICA’s LARS ULRICH begins. “Put your dancing shoes on, this is gonna be fun!”

“Always excited to do big 4 shows” says SLAYER’s KERRY KING. “Now England is in line to be devastated by this heavy metal powerhouse! Can’t Fucking wait!!!”

MEGADETH mainman DAVE MUSTAINE states; “The Big Four Concerts are the most important, most exciting event to happen in the history of live concerts in our genre, and perhaps the entire music industry. I am glad to be a part of this enormous celebration of thrash, speed, and good ole heavy metal!”

“OH YEAH!!!” proclaims ANTHRAX drummer CHARLIE BENANTE. “Here we Come England! The Big 4 BABY! Can't wait to Get Metal Thrashing Mad for you Thrashers!”

ANTHRAX bandmate, guitarist SCOTT IAN concurs “Merry early Xmas present for us… more BIG 4 shows!!! The shows we did together with our brothers in Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth were not only the high point of 2010, but also some of the best shows Anthrax have ever played. Getting to share this with our friends in the UK will be amazing”.

Given that 2010’s event had sold out before IRON MAIDEN took to the stage, and the hugely exciting headliners set for next year, SONISPHERE can not guarantee that day tickets will be available for 2011, so fans are advised to get their tickets early to ensure they don’t miss out on what is already shaping up to be SONISPHERE’s most exciting year yet.

SONISPHERE – BIFFY CLYRO SET TO HEADLINE SATURDAY NIGHT

*BIFFY CLYRO – EXCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE AS SATURDAY NIGHT HEADLINERS *

* FREE TICKET TO FESTIVALS ABROAD
WITH YOUR KNEBWORTH TICKET *

Hot off the back of last week’s announcement – revealing SLIPKNOT’s exclusive return to the UK – SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH 2011 can now reveal the second headliner for next summer’s festival.

For Saturday night, we are delighted to announce that Scottish superstars BIFFY CLYRO will bring their legendary live performance to SONISPHERE for the first time, for an exclusive headlining set. With early albums receiving high praise from critics, their hard work on the underground scene paid off when BIFFY CLYRO’s popularity shot through the roof following the release of their fourth full length, “Puzzle”, in 2007. The nilhilistic proposition of ‘Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies’ coupled with the infectious ‘Who’s got a Match’ and the elegiac ‘Folding Stars’ firmly sealed their position as one of rock’s biggest names, making anyone with even a passing interest in music unable to ignore the three piece.

The announcement comes hot off the back of a huge arena tour – which ended at a sold out Wembley Arena on Saturday night – completing twelve truly amazing months for BIFFY CLYRO, whose universal appeal has propelled them to rock god status and ensured that masterpiece “Only Revolutions” went platinum in the UK, as well as receiving a Mercury Prize nomination for Album of The Year. Add to this a succession of singles, all of which reached top spots in the UK charts and it’s no wonder BIFFY CLYRO is now a household name across the country.

This exclusive headlining slot promises to be a summer festival highlight, filled with their magnificent rock outs and catchy singalong anthems such as “The Captain”, “Bubbles” and “Mountains”.

The now familiar APOLLO and SATURN arena main stages – considerately timed to ensure no clashes – will of course be back at KNEBWORTH, alongside BOHEMIA, which as well as showcasing the hottest bands on the scene, will be expanding upon the success of 2010’s groundbreaking comedy element. Last year saw o2 arena sellout performer TIM MINCHIN appear alongside SEAN HUGHES, JIM JEFFRIES and other leading comedians, and SONISPHERE plans to move forward with even bigger and more exciting names in 2011. Add to this the STRONGBOW BOWTIME BAR, THE REDBULL BEDROOM JAM and JAGERMEISTER stages, fairground rides and all manner of other alternative stalls and attractions, SONISPHERE is the hottest ticket offering the best value this summer.

As if the truly phenomenal line up is not enough, SONISPHERE is introducing the SONISPHERE TOURIST OFFER, a spectacular upgrade on last year’s “Buy One Get One Free Deal”. This year, early-bird ticket buyers have the choice of not one, but THREE extra festivals abroad. SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH ticket buyers will be able to apply for either a free ticket for SONISPHERE in POLAND PLUS a free ticket for SONISPHERE CZECH REPUBLIC, OR a free ticket for AUSTRIA’s NOVA ROCK Festival on 11-13th June, – where SYSTEM OF A DOWN will play alongside SICK OF IT ALL and VOLBEAT. Free tickets are subject to availability and will be issued on a first come first served basis.

SONISPHERE will also be repeating its hugely successful deposit scheme, allowing festival goers to secure their ticket – and their free bonus ticket if ordered before the new year – without having to immediately pay the full ticket price.

For those who require a bit of luxury during their festival experience, ROCK ROYALTY tickets will also be going on sale. As well as the usual festival madness, moshing and debauchery, ROCK ROYALTY ticket holders are treated like true VIPs, with a private ROCK ROYALTY camping area, plus some extra rock’n’roll luxury in the form of the Rock Royalty Gardens and Barns.

Tickets for SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH 2011 go on sale at 9am Friday December 10th, with pre-sale available via O2 and Sonisphere FMC and social communities on Weds 8th. Beat the VAT increase – and get your application in to become a SONISPHERE TOURIST with your free ticket for POLAND and CZECH REPUBLIC or AUSTRIA (subject to availability) – by snapping your ticket up quickly.
