* YOU ME AT SIX, ALL TIME LOW, SUM 41, HOUSE OF PAIN, ARCH ENEMY, PERIPHERY, GRINSPOON and FOZZY JOIN SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH 2011 *

SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH has revealed a further eight acts for it’s 2011 line up.

Surrey superstars YOU ME AT SIX make their SONISPHERE debut at KNEBWORTH this year.

“We are really excited to play Sonisphere!” says frontman Josh Franceschi. “It's going to be a lot of fun performing at such a great rock festival.”

In just a few short years, Josh, Chris, Dan, Matt and Max have gone from hitching low-fare rides on the megabus to get to their shows up and down the UK, to traveling across the globe in tour buses supporting the likes of Angels & Airwaves, Fall Out Boy and Paramore in huge arenas, as well as packing out clubs and theatres at their own headline shows, including two sold out nights at the Hammersmith Apollo. When debut “Take Off Your Colours” was released in 2008, the album propelled YOU ME AT SIX into the UK Top 30 (number 25). That their second album peaked at number 5 just two years later is testament to the band’s meteoric ascent, which shows no sign of slowing down on the road to SONISPHERE, where we look forward to fan faves such as “Save It For The Bedroom”, “Finders Keepers” and “Underdog”.

Baltimore, Maryland’s ALL TIME LOW join the SONISPHERE festivities, bringing with them a bag of hook-laden, guitar driven party tricks. ALL TIME LOW has emerged as one of the most popular new bands in recent memory, beloved by an increasingly fervent fan following for their fast-paced and fizzy brand of pop-punk. Currently on a sold out tour of the UK, the ALL TIME LOW of 2011 pay little resemblance to the covers band that formed in high school, with a catalogue of their own hits such as “Weightless”, “Lost In Stereo” and “Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t)” with which to dazzle the revelers at KNEBWORTH.

Canadian alt-punks SUM 41 make their way from Ajax, Ontario to deliver a plethora of infectiously catchy pop-laden punk. Having spent nearly all of last year on the road, including their 4th headlining run on the 2010 US Vans Warped Tour, SUM 41 are gearing up to release the most long-awaited new studio album of their career, “Screaming Bloody Murder”, at the end of March. If the first single of the same name is anything to go by, fans are in for a treat, as the multi-platinum, multi-million selling four-piece showcase brand new songs to UK festival goers for the first time this summer at SONISPHERE, as well as old favourites like “Fat Lip”, “In Too Deep”, “Still Waiting” and their homage to metal, “Pain For Pleasure”.

Reforming in celebration of their 20 year anniversary, it is with great excitement that SONISPHERE welcomes HOUSE OF PAIN to 2011’s event, as part of a worldwide reunion tour. It’s hard to believe that the rowdy Irish Americans got started way back in 1991, but for the past 20 years the group has maintained a high profile – topping the Billboard charts as a group and with solo efforts. It was the turn of a new decade when HOUSE OF PAIN changed the face of hip-hop with their self-titled debut album, going multi-platinum and launching one of the most memorable songs in hip-hop history with “Jump Around”. Now, Everlast and Danny Boy bring their fiery live show to get the masses at KNEBWORTH to jump up and get down, with hits like “Shamrocks & Shenanigans”, “Top O’ The Morning To Ta”, and, of course, THAT song.

Also joining the 2011 line up are melodic extreme metallers ARCH ENEMY, one of the leading lights of the death metal scene. Starting life as something of a side-project, in their 15 years ARCH ENEMY have battled their way out of the underground to become one of extreme metal’s most prolific acts, achieving numerous chart positions across the globe, including the prestigious US Billboard charts. High profile tours and festival appearances showcasing incredible musicianship and fiercely aggressive live shows have made ARCH ENEMY a favourite amongst fans at the heavier end of the music spectrum, who can expect an shred-tastically impressive set at SONISPHERE.

PERIPHERY has set the metal world alight with their self-styled “Djent” metal, injecting a new sense of excitement around this buzzing new sub-genre. Combining the complex atypical rhythms and technical precision of math rock with the sensational brutality of progressive metal, PERIPHERY is a band that is constantly pushing the envelope, and are bound to impressive any who witness what will be a stunning display of musical and technical mastery. Says the band:
“To say that we are pumped to play Sonisphere in the UK is an understatement. Not only do we get to come back and play for some of the best fans anywhere, but we get to do it at the UK's premier summer music festival!”

Australian alternative-rockers GRINSPOON announce their inclusion at SONISPHERE 2011, hot off the back of their UK tour which ended in London this last weekend. With no less than 13 Australian Recording Industry Association awards nominations – including a win – to their name, as well as numerous platinum records in their home country, find out what the fuss is about at their SONISPHERE debut this summer.

Wrestling and rock have a long history together, a natural partnership that led to pro-wrestler Chris Jericho teaming up with Stuck Mojo guitarist Rich Ward to create FOZZY, who join this year’s cast. Existing solely to rock hard, be that playing popular metal classics or their own material, FOZZY’s reputation for powerful and energetic live shows make their appearance at SONISPHERE 2011 one that promises to be a fun-packed celebration of good old heavy metal.

SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH takes place 8th – 10th July 2011 at KNEBWORTH HOUSE. For tickets and more info go to www.sonispherefestivals.com

‘STADIUM ROCKERS’ JETTBLACK ANNOUNCE CO-HEADLINE TOUR WITH FELLOW UK OUTFIT HEAVEN’S BASEMENT…

JETTBLACK WILL be touring the UK in May, co-headlining with Heaven’s Basement on a run of 11 shows.

This tour is the first time these two homegrown rock acts have shared a stage, and will follow in the wake of Jettblack’s current series of UK dates Special Guesting with Grinspoon – one of Australia’s most consistently successful acts.

According to Jettblack drummer Matt Oliver:

“This tour is something we’re totally fired up for – we’re ready to turn up the heat a few notches.

“We’re two bands with a different approach, but the same ultimate goal of destroying it each night, leaving a trail of musical destruction across the UK. We want to reward our loyal fans with something to remember, and of course make some new fans along the way…”

The dates of the Jettblack/Heaven’s Basement UK tour are as follows:-

MAY 2011

5th – Leicester, Sub 91
6th – York, Duchess
7th – Grimsby, Yardbirds
8th – Manchester, Moho Live
10th – Nottingham, Rock City
11th – Trillian’s, Rock Bar
12th – Wolverhampton, Slade Room
13th – Sheffield, Corporation
15th – Wrexham, Central Station
19th – Southampton, Talking Heads
22nd – Exeter Cavern

More dates are expected to be added, and the bands will take it in turn to close the show.

IN THE PAST, Jettblack have played with bands such as Whitesnake & Airbourne, appeared at some of the major UK festivals (Download, T In The Park, Hard Rock Hell, etc.), picked up airplay on Radio One & XFM, and been tipped as ‘ones to watch’ in the music press.

The band recently released ‘Not Even Love’ as a single – the fourth track to be taken from their debut ‘Get Your Hands Dirty’ album, released on the Spinefarm label in 2010.

They will shortly be starting work on Album No. 2, due for release this autumn.

NEW SUPERGROUP REVEALS ALBUM PLANS

Edel Germany GmbH, in cooperation with Hamburg based international marketing office IAM – International Artist Marketing, is proud to announce the signing of a worldwide distribution deal (excluding Asia) with Symfonia for their debut album “In Paradisum“.

Carrying the legacy of names such as Stratovarius – Angra – Helloween and Sonata Arctica, Symfonia is one of the most awaited metal bands to make their debut this year.

Recorded and mixed in Sweden, Finland and Italy, the album “In Paradisum” represent a peak in the career of this incredible group of musicians who have written some of the most successful and exciting pages of the last 15 years of heavy metal.

For all the fans who can’t wait for the release of the album on April 4th, Symfonia will reveal their music in their player on http://www.symfonia.fi commencing February 25th with snippets of various songs from the forthcoming album being made available every Friday.

Symfonia will make its world premiere on February 18th, 2011 at the Finnish Metal Expo, an international metal meeting, where they will take the stage at 11pm in the evening.

Timo Tolkki, guitar player, and producer of the album says: “I am extremely happy about the signing with Edel Germany and IAM and taking the next step in my career. I believe we have now gathered a team that enables Symfonia to bring its music to a wider range of audience around the globe. We have worked very hard for six months to build our Symfonia and we think we managed to capture a powerful, fresh and melodic approach with this album. Last time I felt like this was when I signed the first international record deal with Stratovarius back in 1991. A lot has happened ever since but the ship sails on to a new horizon with new and positive energy and we cannot wait to get “In Paradisum” released and take it on the road.”

BLOODSTOCK CONFIRMS DEVIN TOWNSEND ONLY UK FESTIVAL

DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT CONFIRMS ONLY UK FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE AT BOA 2011

After pulling in one of the biggest crowds of the weekend at last year’s 10th anniversary festival, it is with great pride, excitement and mild arousal that BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR welcomes back the inimitable DEVIN TOWNSEND to Catton Hall this year.

From the aggression of his early years through the multilayered melodies of later work, via the ridiculously amusing Ziltoid The Omniscient, DEVIN has something for every occasion. A true master of emotion, he’ll make you laugh and cry, rage and chill, and laugh some more. With two albums – “Deconstruction” and “Ghost” set for a June release as the follow up to 2009’s “Addicted”, this year DEVIN comes armed with an ever heavier arsenal of stunning musical majesty with which to assault our senses. The man himself checked in to tell us:

“Hey everyone, this is Devin Townsend, and I would like to officially announce my appearance at this years edition of the awesome Bloodstock festival! Last year was a difficult time for the band and the festival alike, and this time we will make sure our gear is there and we are ready to rip! The festival includes many of my favorite bands through the years and it's a total honor and privilage to be involved for the second year in a row!”
Devin Townsend

After technical problems due to the bands gear being lost in transit forced the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT to cut their set short, despite the excellence of the stand-up show that followed, we’re hopeful there will be no such plagues of technical failure this year, at DEVIN TOWNSEND’s only UK Festival show of 2011.

Tickets for the 2011 event are on sale now at www.bloodstock.uk.com

Swedish melodic rockers prepare second studio album for Spring 2011 release via Spinefarm Records UK…

DEAD BY APRIL – the chart-topping five-piece from Gothenburg, Sweden – will release their new/second studio album through Spinefarm Records in May 2011, with an as yet unnamed single leading the way.

Produced in his own Big Island Studio in Stockholm by Swedish studio-meister Jacob Hellner, best known for his work with the mighty Rammstein, the album will be mixed by fellow Rammstein regular Stefan Glaumann and will feature the session guitar work of Pontus Hjelm, who left DBA last year to focus more on the writing & production side; his songs (including ‘More Than Yesterday’ – the demo track featured on the compilation mini-album ‘Stronger’, recently released via Spinefarm) will also feature, providing the all-important continuity with the self-titled debut, a Top 2 outing in Sweden.

Say DBA: “The new recordings are almost complete, and we’re delighted with the way they’re turning out – they are WAY beyond anything we’ve done before, smashing our debut! Jacob Hellner is now giving us the heaviness we’ve always craved… we are super-excited, and can’t wait for our fans, and everyone else, to hear the results!”

Having toured here late last year with UK outfit My Passion, and before that with Skindred, DBA are now finalising their live plans for 2011.

PROTEST THE HERO
Canadian rockers confirmed to appear at Sonisphere 2011
New album, ‘Scurrilous’, released March 21st via Spinefarm Records

PROTEST THE HERO, the Canadian five-piece whose quirky humour & virtuoso playing has gained them a fevered following worldwide, have been added to the line-up of the prestigious Sonisphere Festival in the UK.

Set to take place in the grounds of Knebworth House from July 8th – 10th 2011, the bands so
far announced for this annual event already include names such as Slipknot, Motörhead & In Flames, with the ‘Big 4’ – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth & Anthrax – also confirmed to appear.

Protest The Hero – from Whitby, Ontario – have just concluded a European tour with Darkest Hour, and will shortly be heading off to Australia for a series of dates, including a run of appearances on the travelling Soundwave Festival.

Then, in mid-May, PTH guitarist Tim Millar will be representing Canada at the ‘World Beard & Moustache Championship’ in Trondheim, Norway. Tim and ‘Beard Team Canada’ competed for the first time back in 2009, when he entered his beard into the ‘Alaskan Whaler’ category!

AMARANTHE
Rising Swedish/Danish melodic metallers confirm the release of debut studio album for April 2011 via Spinefarm Records

AMARANTHE is the Swedish/Danish power/melodic death metal band formed by Jake E. Lundberg & Olof Morck; however, it was when singers Elize Ryd & Andy Solvestrom entered the picture, followed by drummer Morten Lowe, that things truly started to take shape.

Originally called Avalanche, the band first came to public attention via a four-song
demo (2008)… and now that demo has developed into a debut album – called simply ‘Amaranthe’, produced by Jacob Hansen and due for release on April 13th via Spinefarm Records, preceded by the single/video ‘Hunger’.

To support the release of the album, Amaranthe will be Special Guesting with Kamelot on two UK dates in April. Of course, Swedish vocalist Elize is no stranger to Kamelot’s music, having performed live with the band throughout 2010…

The April dates are:-

27th Sheffield, Corporation
28th London, KoKo

HOUSTON
Swedish AOR masters confirmed for first-ever appearance at Firefest 2011

HOUSTON, the young Swedish duo whose debut self-titled outing on the Spinefarm label was voted ‘AOR Album Of 2010’ by Classic Rock magazine, have been added to the bill for Firefest 2011 – the annual event designed to showcase the very best in international melodic rock & metal.

Prior to this, on March 4th, Houston (Hank Erix & Freddie Allen) will headline the Borderline in London’s West End with a full band line-up, supported by top UK AOR-sters Serpentine & Vega.

* LIMP BIZKIT RETURN FOR EXCLUSIVE ENGLISH FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE *

* THE SISTERS OF MERCY CONFIRM FIRST UK FESTIVAL APPEARANCE IN 20 YEARS *

* GALLOWS, GOJIRA, INME, KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES, ONE MINUTE SILENCE, PROTEST THE HERO and VOLBEAT JOIN LINE UP *

SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH has revealed the next nine acts for its 2011 line up.

LIMP BIZKIT returns to SONISPHERE this year after putting on one of the weekend’s highlights at the inaugural event in 2009. Taking the stage before festival closers SLIPKNOT, the multi-million selling rockers appear as special guests on the APOLLO stage on the Sunday night for their only festival appearance in England this year. Armed with new songs off of the forthcoming “Gold Cobra” album, the appearance marks the first opportunity for fans to hear the new songs live in this country, as well as smash hit singles like “Rollin”, “Nookie”, “Break Stuff”, “My Way” and many more.

The last time THE SISTERS OF MERCY played at an outdoor UK festival, shell-suits were being swapped for baggy jeans, home taping was the biggest danger to the recording industry and the world wide web had just been made publicly available on the internet for the first time. A lot has changed since then, but the unclassifiable blend of rock, pop, punk, dance and psychedelia that THE SISTERS OF MERCY are famous for has stood the test of time, becoming classic in its own right. It is with huge pride and excitement that we welcome THE SISTERS OF MERCY to SONSIPHERE for this rare festival appearance – their first in the UK in 20 years – and the midnight outing of unforgettable songs such as “Dominion”, “Temple Of Love” and “This Corrosion”.

Welsh rockers KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES join the SONISPHERE line up this year. As an unsigned band, KIGH garnered a huge amount of support from the rock press and media, more than many established bands could hope for. Having played alongside the likes of Lostprophets, Manic Street Preachers, 30 Seconds To Mars and many more , demand for the band was stratospheric by the time their debut album was released in 2008. In the few short years since then, their ascent shows no sign of slowing down and with work on a new album set to commence in the near future, there’s a chance fans at SONISPHERE could be hearing some brand new tracks alongside favourites such as “Me Me Me”, “Easy Tiger”, “Give Me What I Want” and “Matters At All”.

GALLOWS are no strangers to SONISPHERE, having lain waste to BOHEMIA last year. It’s been quite a year for the Watford punks; performing at RATM’s victory parade in London, secret sets at Reading and Leeds and revisiting their roots on the “Back To The Dives” tour, culminating in an extremely moving and emotional set at London’s Electric Ballroom at the end of last year. In 2011, the beast is being freed from the cage, with GALLOWS leaving the tent behind for the great outdoors. Guitarist Lags comments:

“Now we're playing outdoors which means there's even more space for you, yes YOU, to get wild with us on the Saturday.”

Towards the end of 2003, the UK lost one of its most prized possessions when ONE MINUTE SILENCE announced they were taking an indefinite break. With a fanbase built largely on the reputation of their live shows where anything could (and did) happen, where roofs were once raised and walls shook with the raw energy of OMS’s politically charged alt-metal their absence was felt in venues across the country,. Now, after an eight year hiatus, ONE MINUTE SILENCE return to fill the void at SONISPHERE. Frontman Yap warns:

“Been too long. Missing the pit, missing the vibe, missing the fans. Time for round two. Unfinished business. Expect mayhem.”

Having performed at numerous shows on the European leg of SONISPHERE 2010, VOLBEAT make their KNEBWORTH debut this year after being forced to cancel last year’s scheduled UK tour. Frontman Michael Poulsen can hardly contain his excitement:

“We’re delighted to be at Sonisphere in the UK this Summer; we did appear at some of the Sonisphere events in Europe last year, playing on the same bill as The Big 4, which was an amazing experience. And now we feel like spoilt kids cos we’re getting the chance to do it all over again in the UK! This show means a lot, because we had to cancel the UK tour we had lined up late last year. We were really upset not to be able to come over, but I saw the doctor after a show in Hamburg and he advised me not to continue with the tour – I was having terrible pains in my chest and down the left side of my body, I could hardly breathe… Anyway, we’re back on track now – see you at Sonisphere!”

Making their only UK festival appearance of 2011, French metal powerhouse GOJIRA join the line up at SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH. With sonically dense sounds and bludgeoningly heavy rhythms, GOJIRA have let their music do the talking, working their way through the underground while prolific contemporaries champion their cause, resulting in tours alongside the likes of Lamb Of God, Children Of Bodom and even being hand-picked by Friday night headliners METALLICA to support them on their US tour in 2009. Their set at KNEBWORTH promises to be one of the hardest hitting of the weekend, and one not to be missed.

Homegrown heroes InMe return to SONISPHERE this year, after having had such a blast last year. “We're honoured and absolutely over the moon to be returning to Sonisphere!” say the band, who ended 2010 performing all four studio albums in their entirety at four separate sold out shows. “The show last year was easily one of the best times we've ever had as a band and we hope to step things up even more in the Bohemia Tent this year. People overuse the word 'epic' but last year's Sonisphere weekend was exactly that, in capitals. EPIC! Colossal love to all of the Sonisphere team from InMe!”

Fresh off a UK tour with Darkest Hour, Canadian prog-metal mentalists PROTEST THE HERO come to SONISPHERE for the first time, armed with a heap of new songs from the forthcoming “Scurrilous” album, released next month. Guitarist Tim Millar states:

“We haven't played many festivals in Europe and hear so many amazing things! I'm stoked to be a part of Sonisphere and getting a full European festival experience this summer. Not to mention all the great bands we will be performing alongside”

SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH takes place 8th – 10th July 2011 at KNEBWORTH HOUSE. For tickets and more info go to www.sonispherefestivals.com

FOR ONLY UK SHOW OF 2011

WOLF & 1349 FOR RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE

NEMHAIN, SURVIVORS ZERO & DEF-CON-ONE JOIN SOPHIE STAGE LINE UP

VIP ON SALE – WIN TICKETS!

German Thrash legends KREATOR return to BLOODSTOCK this year for their only UK show of 2011 on the RONNIE JAMES DIO stage. Alongside fellow countrymen Destruction and Sodom – both BLOODSTOCK veterans – KREATOR dominated the European Thrash scene of the mid 1980’s, working their way from the grimy streets of Essen to international acclaim. 30 years in the business has done nothing to soften the fearsome foursome, and we look forward to a furious set of thrash classics including “Pleasure To Kill”, “Betrayer”, “Tormentor” and “Extreme Agression”.

Joining them will be Black Metal overlords 1349, who make their BLOODSTOCK debut this summer. Something of a supergroup, 1349 specialise in the super fast, raw metal blackness that their home country of Norway is notorious for. Formed from the ashes of Alvheim in 1997, 1349’s speed and technique took their music to a new level of intensity and brutality, in turn leading to an impressed Frost of Satyricon – who was asked to lay down the drum tracks to get the speed required – to join as a permanent member. With live sets famed for their raw aggression and evil atmospherics, the shadow that 1349 will cast over BLOODSTOCK this summer is one no fan of extreme music will object to standing in.

From neighbouring Sweden, true metal heroes WOLF return to BLOODSTOCK for some kick-ass, honest, grab-you-in-the-nuts heavy metal. After releasing their debut album, “Wolf” back in 2000, the band toured relentlessly and destroyed the major festivals gaining them more and more followers and success. Over 15 years later, with five albums under their belts and a new one set for an April 2011 release, the Swedish powerhouse look forward to their third appearance at BLOODSTOCK, for this exclusive UK festival appearance. The band look forward to their third trip to BOA:

“Bloodstock Open Air!!!! Hell yeah we say. It's an honor to return for the third time and as always; we'll give you 666%. With the new album, ‘Legions of Bastards’ fresh outta hells mouth, we'll be blasting you off the goddamn planet. Us included. See ya frontrow. –WOLF“

Next up, Rock’n’Roll dirtbags NEMHAIN return to deliver a dose of whiskey fuelled blues stained punk rock mayhem and have already started their preparations for BOA 2011:

“Last time Nemhain played Bloodstock, the sky turned black, Thor's hammer sounded, and the mother of all storms descended just as we went onstage. That however, was nothing compared to the soaked and rabid crowd who came to be deafened during our set and join the Nemhainous afterparty!

We love Bloodstock and are honoured to be on the bill again and especially to be playing the S.O.P.H.I.E stage. In fact, we're so excited, we're packing already: Drums: Check, Guitars: Check, Jagermeister: Check, Alka Seltzer: Check, Dodgy blow-up doll: Check …”

Joining them Newcastle metallers DEF-CON-ONE will be joining the line up on the SOPHIE stage. Formed by ex-Venom drummer Antton, DC1 look forward to delivering a powerful set of groove crushing metal this August.

“All we can say is how excited we are to be playing bloodstock and its gonna be an absolute honour to play the fest. Bloodstock always has killer bands on the bill and we can’t wait to be apart of it.”

Finally, Finnish death metallers SURVIVOR ZERO, come to BLOODSTOCK for the first time. Formed by noted Finnish Metal Producer and video director Sami Jämsen, the line up is completed by other metal lifers who had paid their dues in Finnish heavy-weights as Finntroll, Deathchain, Impaled Nazarene and The Scourger. Describing their music “heavy death metal”, the band has always aimed for great songs instead of image, crushing live shows and straight up honesty in their music. Says the band:

“Survivors Zero is proud to have the chance to perform at Bloodstock, the greatest festival on the misty isles.”

PRIMUS RETURNS TO THE UK AFTER 14 YEAR ABSENCE!

American alt-rock-fusion mentalists PRIMUS have announced their return to the UK. The three-piece will play Manchester Academy on July 12th and London’s O2 Academy Brixton the following day.

Famed for their funked up, far out and truly unique style, these shows will be warmly welcomed by PRIMUS fans, who have not had a chance to see the band since they last played at Brixton, back in June of 1997. Since then, the band have written the theme tune for popular animated TV show “South Park”, released two albums and undertaken several tours, but unable to take in the UK in that time. Currently working on their first new album in 11 years – due this summer – the trio will return to the UK after a fourteen year abscence to deliver favourites like “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver”, “My Name Is Mud”, “John The Fisherman” and “Tommy The Cat” at their only UK shows of 2011.
