JETTBLACK FOR SONISPHERE, MORE DATES & NEW ALBUM!

JETTBLACK

UK ‘STADIUM ROCKERS’ SET TO APPEAR ON THE JAGERMEISTER STAGE AT SONISPHERE 2011
· EXTRA DATES ADDED TO UK CO-HEADLINE TOUR WITH HEAVEN’S BASEMENT IN MAY
· RECORDING OF SECOND STUDIO ALBUM UNDERWAY…

FRESH FROM supporting Record Store Day with a split 7” single (on Spinefarm) with legendary party-starters Hellyeah, UK rockers Jettblack have been confirmed to appear on the Jagermeister stage at this year’s Sonisphere Festival, set to run from July 8th – 10th.

Says JB bassist Tom Wright…
“To be playing one of the biggest metal festivals is one thing, but to be on the same bill as four of the biggest metal bands of all time is f**king amazing!”

In the meantime, the four will be undertaking a full UK tour, co-headlining with fellow homegrown outfit, Heaven’s Basement.

Many of the shows have already been announced, but the complete list of dates – all in May – is as follows:

5th Leicester, Sub 91 13th Sheffield, Corporation
6th York, Duchess 14th Hertfordshire, Attic
7th Grimsby, Yardbirds 15th Wrexham, Central Station
8th Manchester, Moho Live 17th Stoke, Sugarmill
10th Nottingham, Rock City 18th London, Camden Underworld
11th Newcastle, Trillian’s Rock Bar 19th Southampton, Talking Heads
12th Wolverhampton, Slade Rooms 20th Margate, Westcoast Bar
22nd Exeter, Cavern

JETTBLACK HAVE now started to record the follow-up to last year’s debut album, ‘Get Your Hands Dirty’, released on the Spinefarm label. Once again, the band are working with Dan Weller (ex-SikTh guitarist, producer of Young Guns, etc.) on this as-yet-untitled outing, with brand new tracks such as ‘Temptation’ and ‘Black Gold’ set for inclusion.

The album is scheduled for release via Spinefarm in Autumn 2011, with the lead single/video surfacing in support of the band’s Sonisphere appearance.

THE ANSWER

NEW DVD/CD LUXURY PACKAGE ‘412 DAYS OF ROCK‘n’ROLL’ CONFIRMED FOR MAY 30th RELEASE VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS SUPPORTED BY…

* ONE-OFF LONDON HEADLINE SHOW
* NEW LTD EDITION, 7”-ONLY SINGLE/VIDEO ‘ROCK ‘n’ ROLL OUTLAW’
* SONISPHERE 2011 APPEARANCE

THE ANSWER, the award-winning Irish rockers whose emotive music and fearsome live reputation have won them a dedicated international following, will release their first DVD/CD package on May 30th 2011 via Spinefarm Records/Universal, with whom the band have now signed a worldwide deal.

Titled ‘412 Days Of Rock’n’Roll’, this two-disc set contains a host of special features, including an hour-long documentary detailing the band’s 118 shows as Special Guests to AC/DC on their ‘Black Ice’ World Tour – a tour (2008/2009) that took in over three million fans in 30 different countries.

As the title implies, this extensive run of shows – in stadiums ranging from ten to 90,000 – saw The Answer on the road for a full 412 days, a non-stop period of activity taking in as many headline shows as they could play, two nights at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden, TV appearances including the David Letterman show, plus as many radio sessions and press interviews as could be reasonably fitted in…

Says Answer frontman Cormac Neeson:-

“In the course of that year, we got to see the world, and the sights, the sounds and the people we encountered along the way blew our minds! We truly had to throw caution to the wind and let ourselves be thrown up and spun around by the joyous momentum of it all…”

‘412 Days Of Rock‘n’Roll’ also features all of the band’s promo clips (nine in all – including the clip for new single ‘Rock‘n’Roll Outlaw’), footage of selected live tracks, both from the ‘Black Ice’ shows in Houston & Dallas and from a sold-out homecoming headliner at the Ulster Hall In Belfast, plus the audio versions of the aforementioned songs, with two further live tracks appearing on the iTunes format; and as a way of bringing things bang up to date, the package – a comprehensive edition boasting band sleeve-notes, previously unseen behind-the-scenes photos plus a 24-page booklet – is rounded off with the video for new single ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Outlaw’ (a rousing version of the Rose Tattoo classic) plus the previously unreleased demo recording, ‘Fooled Me’.

The ‘Rock‘n’Roll Outlaw’ video skilfully mixes highlights from the ‘412 Days…’ documentary with footage from the original Rose Tattoo clip (1978), and Tatts front-man Angry Anderson has recently spoken out about this new rendition of his band’s signature song…

“It’s sacred ground for us,” he reflects, “but hearing The Answer play it brought a lump to my throat… not only a killer version but they make it their own… well done, lads, you do us proud!”

In support of Record Store Day on April 16th, ‘Rock‘n’Roll Outlaw’ & ‘Fooled Me’ were made available as a limited edition, 7”-only single on Spinefarm, and the band visited record stores in Belfast & Dublin, both to sign copies of the 7” and to play short acoustic sets.

And next month, on Wednesday May 18th, The Answer will be playing a special one-off headline show at the Borderline in London; a launch event for the ‘412 Days…’ package, this will also see the Downpatrick rockers – now
10 years in the saddle – showcasing new songs from their forthcoming third studio album, produced by the Grammy-nominated Chris ‘Frenchie’ Smith (The Datsuns, Young Heart Attack) and currently being mixed by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Feeder, etc.).

An Autumn release is being planned preceded by a brand new single plus an appearance at the annual Sonisphere festival (8th – 10th July 2011).

“We’ve got a lot of plans,” concludes Neeson, “and we can’t wait to get back on the road. We’ve got 17 brand new songs ready to go and we’re f**kin’ loving it! Rehearsals are so exciting, piecing together different set lists with the old and the new material. When it properly kicks off, that’ll be us on the road for the next two years!”

KILLING JOKE

THE FIRE & BRIMSTONE CREW ANNOUNCE ‘CAMDEN CRAWL’ SHOW IN SUPPORT OF NEW EP/VIDEO, ‘EUROPEAN SUPER STATE’; SONISPHERE 2011 APPEARANCE CONFIRMED FOR FRIDAY, JULY 8th…

KILLING JOKE have now joined the line-up for ‘Camden Crawl 2011’, set to run from April 30th – May 1st; this will see them lining up alongside the likes of Graham Coxon, The Lemonheads & British Sea Power.

In addition, the legendary British band have been confirmed for this year’s Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth House on July 8th, their second appearance at the event.

As with KJ’s recent ‘Ether Festival’ show at the Royal Festival Hall in London, these forthcoming high-profile outings will feature the original band line-up of Jaz Coleman, Geordie, Paul Ferguson & Youth; they coincide with the release of new EP/video ‘European Super State’ on May 9th via Spinefarm Records.

Taken from the band’s current/13th studio album, ‘Absolute Dissent’, released last year through Spinefarm to huge critical acclaim, ‘European Super State’ will be available on six-track CD, digital download & 4-track limited edition coloured vinyl 12”, with all formats carrying exclusive bonus studio & remix material, including a reworking of the title track by Godflesh mainman Justin Broadrick. The 12” will be exclusively available from What Records (www.whatrecords.co.uk)

Once described by drummer Paul Ferguson as “the sound of the earth vomiting”, Killing Joke – covered by Metallica, Foo Fighters, Helmet and more – now stand as one of rock’s most influential outfits, continuing to write and perform songs best suited to the apocalypse (imminent in their book!).

PROFANE OMEN

Finnish Metallers re-issue 2009 Top 10 album ‘Inherit The Void’ via Spinefarm Records on May 23rd 2011, with brand new studio outing to follow in the Autumn…

BASED IN the Finnish town of Lahti, full-tilt rockers Profane Omen first came together in 1999, but it wasn’t until 2006 that their debut album, ‘Beaten Into Submission’, finally saw the light of day.

SHINING

SWEDISH EXTREME METALLERS CONFIRM RELEASE OF LATEST/SEVENTH FULL-LENGTH STUDIO ALBUM, ‘VII / FODD FORLORARE’ (‘BORN LOSER’), FOR MAY 23rd 2011 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS, THEIR FIRST FOR THE LABEL…

SHINING, THE extreme metal outfit founded & fronted by Niklas Kvarforth, will release their new album, ‘Born Loser’, through Spinefarm Records on May 23rd.

Guests on the album – which features recently-aired track ‘Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel’ (‘Despair, My Heritage’) – include Watain’s Erik Danielsson, Chris Amott of Arch Enemy fame, plus Peter Bjärgö of Arcana & Nordman, one of Sweden’s biggest pop stars.

Kvarforth, who has written all of the music & lyrics for ‘Born Loser’, has also confirmed that, generally speaking, he now wishes to concentrate all of his efforts on Shining…

Recorded over a three-year period at Slaughterhouse Studios in Sweden with producer Rickard Bengtsson, this is probably the darkest album to appear under the ‘Shining’ banner; says Kvarforth…

“This new album is really a natural successor to the fifth album, ‘V / Halmstad’, rather than the last release,

‘VI / Klagopsalmer’, which I have always thought of more as an experiment both in terms of writing & performance.”

Shining have confirmed four Finnish dates for May, having recently returned from a UK tour with Watain.

*SONISPHERE – COMEDY LINE UP COMPLETED*
* REFORMED SMUGGLER AND PROLIFIC AUTHOR HOWARD MARKS TAKES THE SUNDAY SERMON *
* SEAN HUGHES, ANDREW MAXWELL AND BRENDON BURNS ARE ADDED TO THE COMEDY BILL *
*TIFFANY STEVENSON, NICK HELM, JIM SMALLMAN ALSO ADDED TO THE BOHEMIA COMEDY LINE-UP*

After an incredibly impressive run of announcements, SONISPHERE completes its comedy line up with additions that perfectly showcase the organisers’ ability to combine outside-of-the-box thinking with top class entertainment, reminding the world what a breath of fresh air SONISPHERE truly is amongst the sea of festivals out there.

Internationally acclaimed, smuggler and author extraordinaire, HOWARD MARKS, described by the Daily Mail (UK Tabloid) as 'the most sophisticated drugs baron of all time', will be joining the line-up of the growing SONISPHERE UK festival, to deliver the SUNDAY SERMON on the BOHEMIA stage (last year’s honours fell to Henry Rollins).HOWARD MARKS has led a colourful existence, having been one of the most infamous drugs barons, and then working with the British Secret Service, with connections to the Mafia, the IRA, MI6 and the CIA. He was busted in 1988 by the American Drug Enforcement Agency and sentenced to twenty-five years at America's toughest federal penitentiary; Terre Haute, Indiana. He was released on parole in 1995 after serving seven years. In 1996 he released his autobiography, Mr. Nice, which remains an international best seller in several languages and was the best selling non-fiction book of 1997. During 1997, he performed his first live shows, which discussed his life as a marijuana smuggler and his views on drug use and legalisation. The shows received excellent reviews throughout the national press and his now legendary one-man comedy show, An Audience with Mr Nice, continues to sell-out at venues throughout Britain and Europe. Howard Marks wrote a monthly column for Loaded for five years and has written features for the Observer, Daily Telegraph, Evening Standard, Time Out, GQ, and the Guardian. He continues to campaign vigorously for the legalisation of recreational drugs.

The youngest ever Perrier Award winner SEAN HUGHES returns to SONISPHERE FESTIVAL for the second year running to headline the comedy bill on the BOHEMIA stage on Sunday afternoon. His no-holds-barred, quick-fire wit shapes each performance into a one-off, unique experience for his audience. Best-known to TV audiences for his long-running stint in the mould-breaking quiz show Never Mind The Buzzcocks, acclaimed drama The Last Detective and guesting in Coronation Street, Sean Hughes' eclectic TV career has also taken in two series of his critically-acclaimed sitcom Sean's Show, and despite a nine-year break in performing stand-up, he was recently voted no. 40 in Channel 4's World's 100 Greatest Comedians poll. His equally wide-ranging film and theatre career includes starring roles in the film adaptation of Spike Milligan's Puckoon, and with Sienna Miller on the West End stage in As You Like It.

Aussie BRENDON BURNS will be joining the comedy line-up on the BOHEMIA stage. BRENDON BURNS has been Britain’s most outspoken and number one cult comic for two decades now. Since taking away the long-awaited Oscar of live Stand up comedy: the if.comedy award for best live comedy show in 2007, BRENDON BURNS has been one of the most prolific and busiest men in show business both here and across the pond. In late 2008BRENDON BURNS recorded not one but two live DVDs for Universal, and aired a special on Comedy Central over the spring of 2009. In the autumn of 2009, Burns made his US TV debut on Paul Provenza’s Green Rooms on Showtime as a regular contributor and panellist, appearing alongside such greats as Eddie Izzard, Andy Kindler, Andy Dick, Roseanne Barr, Larry Miller, Dana Gould and Jonathon Winters. From there Burns recorded his first US album for Stand Up Records in Chicago and tore New York a new one to boot. Here in the UK BRENDON BURNSput the finishing touches on his seventh album, The Thinking Man’s Idiot on the Laughing Stock label, available on i-tunes and the Laughing Stock website. He has published his first semi-autobiographical novel, “Fear of Hat Loss in Las Vegas” with trans-world publishing available now, and left the world of rock in stitches last year after presenting at the 2010 Kerrang! Awards.
Irish jester ANDREW MAXWELL has won and been nominated for several awards including an Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show, a Time Out Live Award in the category of Best Stand-up, a Loaded Magazine Award for best stand-up and Chortle Award for best contribution to the live comedy circuit. He was also recently voted Best Irish Comedian by the public at the Entertainment.ie. Andrew is a regular on RTE1's The Panel. ANDREW MAXWELL has also appeared on recent series of BBC’s Have I Got News For You, ITV2'S Celebrity Juice, the Dave Channel's Arguemental and BBC2's Mock The Week, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s most sought after comedians. Andrew continues to dominate the live and festival circuits. Notable appearances have included several sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival, The Amnesty / Channel Four Secret Policeman's Ball (alongside Eddie Izzard, Chevy Chase and Dylan Moran) at the HBO US Comedy & Arts Festival in Las Vegas (alongside Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock), several sell-out runs in the main house of The Soho Theatre, Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival, Glastonbury and the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival.

Critically acclaimed TIFFANY STEVENSON has worked with some of comedy’s glitterati, for example with Ricky Gervais in The Office, John Bird in Chambers and Stephen Fry in Absolute Power. From the Comedy Store to Glastonbury, Tiffany has since made her presence felt on the club and festival scene and in 2006 she made her entrance on to the hallowed comedy turf of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Talk Radio directed by Stewart Lee. The following year Tiffany, and Talk Radio co-star Phil Nichol, brought their sell out London comedy night Old Rope to the Fringe thereby building the profile of the new material show and helping to make it one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures of the comedy circuit. As well as her Fringe and circuit work TIFFANY STEVENSON has starred alongside Paul Foot in the ‘standup sitcom’ CrashPad for a 6 week run at the Arts Theatre in 2008. Meanwhile Tiffany’s TV career has flourished in tandem with her comedy career and, other than those already mentioned, her roles have included the agony aunt Montana Mounds in Footballers Wives. Meanwhile, on film, Tiffany played the lead role in the earthy indie Britflick Spinning Candyfloss and among her various other credits is an appearance in Dizzee Rascal’s Dirty Cash video.

Award nominated comic NICK HELM has been making waves in the comedy arena, wowing audiences with his unique and hilarious blend of one-liners, stories, poems and songs since starting stand-up comedy in 2007. In 2010, Nick headed up to Edinburgh in two shows, one of which, ‘Keep Hold of The Gold’ became one of the must-see shows of the festival, garnering huge attention from across the industry and rave reviews from the press. Alongside his solo stand up, he is also half of the double act ‘Helm & Taylor’ (with Paul F Taylor) and reached the final of the Laughing Horse Competition 2009. He is the creator of the innovative ‘My First Gig’: a live comedy night where stand ups dissect their first ever performances. My First Gig has recently enjoyed a stint on Resonance 104.4 FM radio and has just been given a second series. Alongside all of this, Nick is also a regular contributor to the Fix Magazine as the Film Editor. In 2001 Nick formed Bad Ash Productions and has since written, directed and performed in several plays under the Bad Ash name, as well as writing and performing in a couple of poetry and music shows in the Edinburgh festival.

3 DOORS DOWN CONFIRM NEW ALBUM AND UK SHOWS

MULTI-PLATINUM MISSISSIPPI ROCKERS CONFIRM NEW ‘TIME OF MY LIFE’ ALBUM FOR JULY 18th 2011 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS PRECEDED BY UK DATES IN JUNE…

3 DOORS DOWN, the Southern US chart-toppers with 16 million album sales to their name, will release their new / fifth studio album on July 18th via Spinefarm Records.

The follow-up to 2008’s self-titled outing, a US No. 1, ‘Time Of My Life’ has been produced by the Grammy-nominated Howard Benson and features 12 brand new compositions, including first single/video ‘When You’re Young’, released earlier this year via Spinefarm Records.

Says vocalist Brad Arnold:-

“This new album’s not as mainstream as our last one; this time, it was about making some artistic strides and creating a record we can stand behind. I really poured myself into the process and Howard pushes you to be better than you think you are…”

The band – completed by Matt Roberts (guitar/vocals), Todd Harrell (bass), Chris Henderson (guitar) & Greg Upchurch (drums/percussion) – first came together back in 1996, since which time they have enjoyed seven Number One chart hits in the US plus a dozen Top 10 chart positions, with Top 3 smash ‘Kryptonite’ (2000) effectively proving the ‘breakout’ release.

The five return to the UK in June for a concentrated run of UK shows:-

JUNE 2011
16th – Academy, Manchester
17th – Academy, Glasgow
19th – Roundhouse, London
20th – 02 Academy, Birmingham

‘Time Of My Life’ will initially be released as a limited edition CD featuring acoustic versions of a number of tracks on the album.

The debut album “Broken Pilgrims” of Social Suicide is the most promising post-hardcore seen in quite awhile. Norway's premier music channel Lydverket named them, “Norway's new hardcore hope”and Norway's New Music Daily wrote, “In short, Broken Pilgrim's the hottest, most explosive and catchy metal / hardcore punk album for a long time in this country.”

Sure, they represent the new wave of kids schooled in underground hardcore testifying
to the same vein of great bands preceding them. But to be frank, hearing this band in a sea of “crabcore”, haircuts, or double zeros is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon It's due time for a band like this, and the revival of LA inspired screamo/hardcore in Norway fortunately for us, has come with less of the LA and more of the hardcore.

Social Suicide will be on tour with Comeback Kid, The Ghost Inside and Kvelertak in April:

17.04. UK- Nottingham, The Rescue Rooms, Hit The Deck Fest
18.04. UK- Glasgow, Garage
19.04. UK- Manchester, Club Academy
20.04. UK- London, ULU
21.04. UK- Sheffield, Corporation
22.04. UK- Plymouth, White Rabbit

“Broken Pilgrims” is released April 25th via Redfield Records.
