SONISPHERE Festival was established in 2009 and received the award “Best New Festival' at the 2009 UK Festival Awards. That year the festival visited six different European countries, taking in Holland, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Finland and England, making it the world’s largest internationally touring festival. 2010 saw SONISPHERE make metal history by bringing metal’s BIG 4 – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax – together for the first time, and taking yet more awards, with Festival promoters Kilimanjaro Live and K2 awarded European Promoter Of The Year at the 2010 European Festival Awards, the Finnish event receiving the Best Festival In Finland Summer 2010 in one of the country’s biggest newspapers, Ilta Sanomat, plus a shortlisting at the Digital Music Awards for the live cinecast of the Bulgarian SONISPHERE. It also sold its millionth ticket as a festival in 2010, an impressive milestone for such a young festival.

Now, just two years after its inception, SONISPHERE Festival has doubled to twelve European countries and has become the world’s foremost festival tour. This year headliners across Europe include Iron Maiden, Metallica, Linkin Park and Slipknot, with the three day UK event at KNEBWORTH boasting headline sets from The BIG 4, BIFFY CLYRO and SLIPKNOT, leaving no doubt that SONISPHERE is the world's greatest international festival. *TWO MINUTE SILENCE IN REMEMBERANCE OF PAUL GRAY TO FALL OVER KNEBWORTH*

*BOOK OF REMEMBERANCE TO PAY RESPECT TO FALLEN HERO AT SONISPHERE *

SONISPHERE will host SLIPKNOT’s first UK performance since the tragic passing of bass player PAUL GRAY, at KNEBWORTH on July 10th, where they close the APOLLO ARENA stage. The band would like to invite all the maggots in attendance to join them in paying their respects.

At 2pm on the Sunday, a two minute silence, led from the SATURN ARENA stage, will fall over the whole arena and all the stages at KNEBWORTH, so fans can pay tribute to SLIPKNOT’s number 2.

Fans will also be able to leave a more personal tribute in the book of rememberance that will be left at the Metal Hammer signing tent for the duration of the weekend. The giant, leather-bound book will be open to those who wish to leave their own obituaries, thoughts or drawings, from midday to midnight each day. The book will be passed to SLIPKNOT at the end of the festival on Sunday night.

SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH takes place 8th – 10th July 2011 at KNEBWORTH HOUSE. For tickets and more info go to www.sonispherefestivals.com

Houston To Support Cinderella Tomorrow Night

Swedish melodic rockers confirm further UK dates in the wake of first UK festival appearance at Download 2011…

HOUSTON HAVE been confirmed to appear at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London on Saturday, June 25th, as Special Guests to US blues rockers Cinderella.

This show follows hard on the heels of the Swedish band’s performance at the Download Festival on June 11th, and they are also confirmed to play at the annual Firefest event on October 21st, where they will be lining up alongside such AOR legends as Jimi Jamison, Warrant & Unruly Child.

At the moment, the band are planning their first ever visit to Japan, where their debut self-titled album (voted ‘AOR Album Of 2010’ by Classic Rock magazine) is causing something of a stir, plus a second nationwide tour of the UK; in celebration of this event, Houston will be releasing a brand new mini-album under the ‘Re-launch’ banner – a collection of classic AOR covers from artists such as New England & Touch, complete with three bonus acoustic tracks plus one freshly-written song, likely to be a duet with an as-yet-unnamed female singer.

It can, however, be announced that Airrace guitarist/songwriter Laurie Mansworth has provided guest guitar parts for Houston’s cover of ‘Brief Encounter’ – a song that originally featured on the Airrace album ‘Shaft Of Light’ (1984).

DREAM ON, DREAMER SIGN TO RISE RECORDS AND ANNOUNCE ALBUM AND SINGLE RELEASE

Some bands just seem like they were meant to be. They turn heads wherever they go, and make an impact on anyone who hears them. They make hard work look effortless and fun, and opportunities fall into place as a result. Dream On, Dreamer exemplifies that exact idea. With a mashup of nationalities (Marcel is German, Aaron is American and the rest of the band are Australian) and backgrounds, the six members became friends as quickly as they became they became musical companions. They quickly came together as a unit and began making a name for themselves within their home country of Australia. Since then, the story is short and sweet. Their “Hope” EP was picked up by Australian's biggest hardcore label Boomtown Records, and the band was invited to participate in the Australian leg of the Take Action 2010 tour alongside Attack Attack! and Pierce the Veil. They played and toured relentlessly around their base country with all the big names, and ended up being voted by readers of the countries biggest heavy/alternative radio poll as the #15 best record of 2010.

‘Heartbound’ is released 15th August 2011 and is preceded by the single ‘Downfall’ available from 5th July 2011 on Rise Records. A free download is also available on the band’s Facebook page now by clicking on the ‘Like’ button at www.facebook.com/pages/Dream-On-Dreamer/324979684033

Dream On, Dreamer has just returned from the USA where they worked with upcoming producer Cameron Mizell (Memphis May Fire, I See Stars, Woe Is Me) on their debut album ‘Heartbound’. Working out of Mizell's Florida studio, the band have crafted a modern, impressive debut album that will continue to see them rise to the top of the post-hardcore heap.

Fans can catch Dream On, Dreamer on tour with US act Emmure this month, followed by a headline Australian tour this August and a 30 date European tour supporting Memphis May Fire in October 2011. Japanese, New Zealand and US dates will be announced shortly.

*SONISPHERE CLEANS UP AT GOLDEN GODS & KERRANG! AWARDS*

*BIG 4, DIAMOND HEAD & KILLING JOKE SCOOP METAL HAMMER AWARDS*

BIFFY CLYRO, YOU ME AT SIX & ALL TIME LOW WIN AT K! AWARDS

SONISPHERE this year saw three of its acts receive awards at last night’s METAL HAMMER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS, which took place at the O2’s Indigo venue, hot off the back of Thursday’s KERRANG! AWARDS, which also saw three victories for SONISPHERE.

Presented by legendary shock rocker ALICE COOPER, who headlined the Friday night slot on the SATURN ARENA stage at last year’s SONISPHERE, the coming together of THE BIG 4 beat System Of A Down’s reformation and the return of Rob Zombie, Manowar and Beavis and Butthead to claim the “Best Event” award at the Golden Gods, which was received by Anthrax’s Rob Caggiano and SONISPHERE’s Stuart Galbraith and Alan Day.

“As you can imagine, making this happen was a hell of a job and took a lot of long days and late nights, but seeing all the fans around the world witnessing the metal miracle they thought would never come made it all worthwhile” commented Stuart. “To know that this is officially the most exciting event in the metal world makes the debut BIG 4 UK performance next month all the more special and team SONISPHERE can't wait to see the fans at Knebworth finally getting what they've waited for all these years”

Brian Tatler of DIAMOND HEAD, who open for the BIG 4 at KNEBWORTH on July 8th, received the “Spirit Of Hammer” Award, and KILLING JOKE – who play straight after the BIG 4 on the Friday – took “Best New Album” for Absolute Dissent, received by frontman Jaz Coleman and bassist Youth.

Last Thursday at The Brewery in Chiswell Street, ANTHRAX’s Scott Ian and SLIPKNOT’s Corey Taylor presented the KERRANG! AWARDS, which saw SONISPHERE claim another three victories. Taking the “Classic Songwriter” Award were Saturday headliners BIFFY CLYRO, with YOU ME AT SIX claiming “Best British Band”, and ALL TIME LOW winning in the “Best Live Band” category.

The prestigious awards come after news that SONISPHERE FESTIVAL has successfully applied for increased capacity for the 2011 event at KNEBWORTH, and has received approval to release more tickets.

Due to space restrictions on the campsite, the increased capacity does not allow for extra weekend/camping tickets to be made available, but an extra allocation of single day tickets are on sale now. Day tickets are priced at £80 + booking fee and are available from http://uk.sonispherefestivals.com/buy-tickets/

With weekend camping tickets nearly sold out, those wishing to come and enjoy the full weekend and all SONISPHERE has to offer are advised to secure their tickets quickly.

SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH takes place 8th – 10th July 2011 at KNEBWORTH HOUSE. For tickets and more info go to www.sonispherefestivals.com
