Reading metal mob SYLOSIS have announced a home town show to bring in the festive season. 2011 has been an incredible year for the four piece, with the band touring non-stop since the release of “Edge Of The Earth”, making a dent at festivals across Europe – including a prestigious slot opening Sonisphere’s main stage at Knebworth – and a highly successful UK tour with neighbours Malefice. Polish blackened death metal monsters BEHEMOTH have announced an exclusive UK festival appearance at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2012. Originally scheduled to perform at the 2010 event, the band were forced to cancel after frontman NERGAL was diagnosed with Leukemia. After undergoing treatment including a bone-marrow transplant, the enigmatic frontman is fighting fit and ready to bring BEHEMOTH’sbrutality back to the UK:

“We couldn’t do the show for obvious reasons last time, I was in a deep shithole with my sickness, but I really felt obliged to come back and do BLOODSTOCK as soon as possible. We are really fortunate that they invited us back, we couldn’t turn it down, and this is the perfect opportunity to make this up to the people that missed us last time. For us it’s a great pleasure to come back to the UK after two years, and I can promise we will bring full production – lights, pyro – it’s gonna be awesome and we can’t wait. This is not only the first time we headline a festival, but also our first open air appearance in the UK, so it’s gonna be special!”

“Bringing Behemoth back to Bloodstock in 2012 was our mission, they have been one of the MOST requested bands we have ever been asked for” states festival booker Vicky Gregory. “We know the fans will give them one hell of a reception. The show is their full production and what better place for them to return than as headliners for the Friday night”

Their ninth studio album, 2009’s “Evangelion” saw BEHEMOTH make a giant leap from a cult black metal act to internationally acclaimed metal act, gracing magazine covers and even newspapers across the globe, truly breaking out of the underground despite the uncompromising and fiercely brutal ten tracks it contains. Having the honour of being opening band at the first ever performance of Metal’s Big Four – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax – at Sonisphere Poland in 2009,BEHEMOTH are no strangers to the big stage and this exclusive headline appearance – their first outdoor show in the UK, and only festival performance in this country in 2012 – will be a triumphant return, and one that will no doubt be talked about for years to come.

BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2012 takes place at Catton Hall August 9th – 12th. With four day camping tickets on sale for just £90 (plus booking fee) until December 16th – a MASSIVE saving of £25 – there is no reason to wait.

Reformed Seattle Thrash heroes SANCTUARY will make their first UK appearance in over 20 years at BLOODSTOCK this summer. Featuring frontman Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard, SANCTUARY rose to fame in the late 80’s after releasing their debut album “Refuge Denied”, produced by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine. Two years after releasing their second album, “The Mirror Black”, the four piece disbanded, with Dane and Sheppard going on to form NEVERMORE.

But now SANCTUARY are back, and after a massive hiatus, are ready to return to the UK for their only show of 2012. Says Frontman Warrel Dane:

“Really psyched to play Bloodstock 2012. It’s the band’s first time back in the UK in over 20 years and we are honored to be invited to one of the greatest summer festivals in the world. We can’t wait to thrash it up with our fans! See you in August 2012.”

Joining them with be Michigan metallers THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and Swedish metal merchants GRAND MAGUS.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER has crammed quite a bit into its 10 years together – five albums, three EPs and a DVD (2009′s MAJESTY). The face-melting Detroit quintet has made a career out of being unpredictable –  unhinged, unclassifiable and unrepentant, all in the best possible ways, expect a fiercely vicious barrage of brutal modern metal at their BLOODSTOCK debut. Says frontman Trevor Strnad:

“We are excited to bring our brand of drunken mayhem to Bloodstock in 2012!!!  Prepare for the most epic circle pit of your mortal lives!!!”

GRAND MAGUS bring their familiar trademark sound for their only UK festival appearance of 2012, melding traditional riffs and melodies that rock in the same league as Judas Priest and Dio. With lead singer JB’s distinctive, unique voice and monster riffs, backed by a rhythm section that lends new meaning to the word heavy, GRAND MAGUS’s exclusive return to BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR will be a most welcome one.

PYTHIA have revealed details of their long awaited second album. ‘The Serpent’s Curse’, will be released on 27th February 2012 on Golden Axe via Genepool/Universal in the UK.

Just in time for Yule Tide, PYTHIA will release advance single, ‘Betray My Heart’, on 19th of December on an extremely limited edition coloured vinyl 7”, with a remixed version appearing on the B-side, and CD/Digital download with an extra little surprise for the more angelic at heart…

Guitarist Ross comments, Betray My Heart is a dark, heavy and very ‘full on’ song. Heavy Riff after heavy riff, pummeling drums, layers of epic keys and Emily’s trademark soaring, emotion drenched vocals full of dark yet catchy melodies. This ain’t no sugar-coated pop metal, it’s dark symphonic power-thrash metal!’

The band have also completed work on a video to accompany the single, drummer Marc comments “This video was all about capturing the energy and emotion of both the song itself, and the band’s live shows. Pounding and aggressive, yet intimate and emotive, personal and introspective, but spewing forth a venomous assault”. The video was filmed at the majestic St. John’s of Hackney at the end of summer; a fitting baptism by fire for new bassist Mark Harrington who has fitted in to the line up like a wandering bard, finally finding his way home!

Mark’s first response on coming through the door was ‘Whew…. These guys are nuts, what have I let myself in for’, but was followed by ‘It’s a real honour to be providing the bottom-end rumble to such a sterling bunch of metal warriors! I’m really looking forward to the exciting things we have planned in the next few months…’

Quote from band about filming the video/excitement about releasing new album ‘During the making of ‘The Serpent’s Curse’ we encountered the highs and lows of human experience. From the darkness of death to the wonder of birth as a band we faced these colossal events united. This album sprung from our endeavours to understand the circle of life, the mighty force of nature and our fight for survival.’

Both physical single formats of ‘Betray My Heart’ and a limited CD/DVD edition of ‘The Serpent’s Curse’ will be available for pre-order this Friday, 25th November. The pre-order will also serve as the artwork ‘reveal’ of the stunning album artwork completed by Brian Froud [Star Wars, Labyrinth] and single artwork completed by Gurdish Haugsdal, along with a full website update.

blessthefall Posts Video For “Promised Ones”

Blessthefall have posted their new video for “Promised Ones” at

Comments singer Beau Bokan:

“This video is set in a bleak, post-apocolyptic time period. We wanted to show a time of hopelessness and oppression. The world, more specifically children, are being controlled and manipulated. Then we come along as a beacon of hope. The kids hear our music and join us in our fight. The whole concept is actually a metaphor of the music industry. People are being brainwashed with awful, meaningless music and we want to show that there is music with heart and substance and that this music will conquer all.”
