SWALLOW THE SUN ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF NEW STUDIO ALBUM, ‘EMERALD FOREST AND THE BLACKBIRD’, FOR FEBRUARY 13th 2012 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS…
SWALLOW THE SUN, the Melodic Death/Doom Maestros whose last album ‘New Moon’ hit the Top Ten in their native Finland, being universally hailed as their most ‘progressive, sorrowful, beautiful… and evil!’, have now confirmed the release of the follow-up forFebruary 6th 2012, again through the Spinefarm label…
Titled ‘Emerald Forest And The Blackbird’ and showcasing 10 brand new songs including ‘Hearts Wide Shut’, ‘Night Will Forgive Us’ plus video track ‘Cathedral Walls’ (featuring Nightwish singer Anette Olzon), the album – this musically ambitious sextet’s fifth full-length studio release – has been recorded at Drumforest Studios in Finland under the gaze of legendary home-grown producer,Mikko Karmila, who has previously worked with Nightwish, Children Of Bodom & Amorphis amongst others.
Mixing, meanwhile, has been handled by Hiili Hiilesmaa (Apocalytica, HIM, etc.).
According to STS guitarist/mainman Juha Raivio, ‘Emerald Forest…’ is based around the band’s trademark blend of “gloom, beauty and despair”, and as with all STS releases, it’s very much bs ever-fertile imagination that drives the project forward…
“I was listening over and over again to an old Finnish lullaby,” he recalls, “and suddenly the image came into my mind of a father reading a tale to his dying child, trying to explain where the child was going that night…. the tale of the Emerald Forest And The Blackbird.
“As for ‘Cathedral Walls’, we are extremely honoured to have Anette Olzon featuring on vocals – her signature tones give the song the depth and the angelic character it demands…”
Comments Olzon: “When I heard the demo of ‘Cathedral Walls’, I fell in love with the song straight away – the melody and the lyrics are truly beautiful.”
In addition, Aleah Stanbridge of Trees Of Eternity, who has worked with STS before, guests on two further album tracks.
With Kai Hahto – the most recent STS recruit, replacing Pasi Pasanen – continuing to occupy the drum position, STS are currently finalising their tour activity for 2012…

Shred-metal adventurers BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART are charging forth with a new glam-tastic tour de force, “Feel the Power”, out January 23rd on Tooth & Nail / Rude Records.

‘Forever’ is available for digital purchase today for fans who don’t want to wait that long to own a piece of “Feel The Power”, which is set to drop in stores and online January 23rd. ‘Forever’ is indicative of the type of pulse-rasing, headbang-inducing, ’80s-influenced rock assault that BLESSED will deliver on their Tooth & Nail / Rude Records debut. “Feel the Power”, the follow-up to the band’s celebrated 2008 album “Pedal to the Metal” (Century Media), sees the band shrugging off metalcore trappings in favor of something more heartfelt.
The band is at the same time giving fans a first glimpse at the album’s tracklisting (listed below), as well as the artwork, reminiscent of the space-punk apocalypse for which BBABH‘s music is the perfect soundtrack.
“The whole band is still obsessed with the ’80s, and that’s bled into our lifestyles. It’s not just when we’re on tour: We all kind of dress ’80s; we still have mullets. It’s become part of our lives,” explains singer Tony Gambino. “On the last album, we used more of the cheesy side of the ’80s, and this album we used a little more of the mature side. It’s a little less fluff, a lot less cheese, a little more serious. We’ve kind of gone a little more classic metal and heavy rock ‘n’ roll. It’s real organic how it all came together,” he adds. “We’re not in this to follow the trends—we’re in it to do what we love.”

Formed in 2003 in Montreal, Canada, BBABH released its first album – “All is Fair in Love And War “- a year after its inception. 2008 saw the release of “Pedal To The Metal” on Century Media Records, which was followed by years of incessant touring throughout the US, UK, Europe, Japan and Australia alongside the likes of JUDAS PRIEST, A DAY TO REMEMBER, BRING ME THE HORIZON, MEGADETH, STEEL PANTHER and more.
Like any artist with a notable body of work, BLESSED has experienced a near constant evolution over the past eight years, in some part due to lineup changes, but mostly due to a stylistic progression away from pure metalcore in favor of more traditional metal and hard rock. One listen to “Feel The Power” will confirm that not only is this not the same band that recorded “All Is Fair…”, but that that very fact is their saving grace. Staying ahead of the curve and distancing themselves from the pack is the key to BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART‘s longevity, and the reason the new album will resonate with even the most veteran headbangers.

STEELWING will embark on a tour next January with their fellow countrymen GRAND MAGUS and BULLET as well as SKULL FIST, more tourdates and festival appearances 2012 are in the works and will be announced soonest. Full Speed Ahead!
The album will be out as a limited digi pak and Gatefold vinyl with 2 bonus tracks on January 30.
