STEVE SMYTH REVEALS DETAILS OF NEW PROJECT ONE MACHINE

EX-NEVERMORE/FORBIDDEN/DRAGONLORD GUITARIST TEAMS UP WITH BIOMECHANICAL, MNEMIC AND MERCENARY MEMBERS TO FORM INTERNATIONAL METAL BAND

one_machine_pic

ONE MACHINE is the brainchild of critically acclaimed guitarist/songwriter Steve Smyth (Nevermore, Forbidden, Dragonlord, Vicious Rumors).

ONE MACHINE is an international metal band with classic and modern influences, featuring members carefully selected by Smyth: Mikkel Sandager (Mercenary) on vocals, Jamie Hunt (Biomechanical) sharing guitar duties, rounded out by a powerhouse rhythm section with Tomas “O’Beast” Koefoed (Mnemic) on bass guitar and Raphael Saini (Chaoswave) on drums.

Smyth had often given thought to leading his own band throughout his distinguished career as a member of bands including Testament, Nevermore, and Forbidden, amongst others.

Smyth had written a number of songs, but the challenge of finding the right members to bring them to life remained.

He found a more than capable shredding second guitarist in Jamie Hunt, and the two began collaborating on the material Smyth had. “Jamie’s playing complements mine extremely well, and we hit it off perfectly when we got together to work on the songs” says Smyth.

A vocalist was found in the form of original Mercenary singer Mikkel Sandager. He fit the kind of singer Smyth was looking for, with his versatile ability to sing in different ways, and his readiness to  be pushed into new musical territories. “When our former bands toured together, I got to witness night after night, exactly what Mikkel could do; deliver a solid performance with an incredible range, as well as multiple characters in his voice. He’s perfect for this band!”

Smyth, Hunt, and Sandager then set about refining and shaping Smyth’s original material.

Drummer Raphael Saini, formerly of Italian progressive metallers Chaoswave, whose band Smyth had previously provided guest solos for, was next to join. During the recording process, Saini lived up to Modern Drummer’s assessment of him as “a drum assassin; cold blooded, precise, and brutal”. To quote Smyth “Raph surprised me with his ability in delivering these tracks. He totally killed it!”

In 2012, bassist Tomas “O’Beast” Koefoed, formerly of Mnemic, came on board, adding his distinctive sound to the tracks. “Tomas is without a doubt one of the most solid bassists I’ve encountered in some time! He literally added an entirely new dimension to these songs that would not have been possible to be achieved without him.”

With the lineup complete, a debut album was recorded, which will be mixed shortly. The band has already been offered European festival dates, and expects to make their live debut during Summer 2013.

LETLIVE. TO SUPPORT DEFTONES ON UK TOUR

letlive_5127_lipking_med

“See them now. You owe it to yourself to be part of this.” – Rock Sound

“The most exciting band in the world.” – Kerrang!

“Jason makes a case for the world’s most captivating frontman” – NME

“The live show is simply put from another planet.” – Metal Hammer

Following a whirlwind 2011, during which they captured the ears, hearts and imagination of rock fans across the globe, letlive. have been holed up in the studio working on the follow-up to their critically acclaimed Epitaph Records release ‘Fake History’. The words of praise for the album were surpassed only by the reaction to the band’s thrilling live performances which regularly see frontman Jason Aalon Butler paying little attention to the fact that a stage even exists, ultimately making the letlive. live experience one of complete union with the crowd.

And now, the band will make their much anticipated return to UK shores in the lead-up to the release of a new album in 2013. They get to tick off an item from their bucket list too, seeing as their live return will come in the form of a tour with the one and only Deftones.

Says Jason of the announcement – “I once told my father that I wanted to do rock music. This was because I saw this dude with bleached hair, Dickies, and tube socks to accompany his low top Converse, jump off the PA speakers into a crowd that seemed overly eager to break his fall at a Warped Tour date at Cal State Dominguez Hills in the mid 90s. That “dude” was a man named Chino Moreno from a band called Deftones. Now I’m playing rock music for a living…and I’m going to be playing it with the man that served as a catalyst to my “career” on a tour cross the globe. Pretty fucked up.”

WITH ONE LAST BREATH POST VIDEO FOR ‘UNTIL THE END’

WOLBlogo

York’s WITH ONE LAST BREATH have posted a video for ‘Until The End’. Taken from their forthcoming EP, ‘Wake The Dead’, which will be released via Small Town Records on February 25th 2013, the video is a chance for fans to see the new look WOLB.

WOLB_promo_2013

Explains frontman Sam Graves:

“With this video, we are going to be revealing a hell of a lot more than just a 3 minute performance. This is the improved line-up performing what we consider to be the sound we have been looking for a long time. This video is intentionally performance based rather than story line, unlike the last video ‘After The Suffering’. We just want people to get a feel of the energy they will witness live from us in 2013. The song ‘Until The End’ is representing a re-release of old material that we have taken into the studio, cut up and pieced together with a sound that we really want to drive into the heads of everyone this year and we felt that this song is what is going to catch people quickly. We like chorus’s and we like driven shouting parts so with that in mind, we feel we have created something special for the EP that follows the video. Keep your eyes peeled for the 25th Feb… You’ll be surprised what we have done to these songs.”

MALEFICE REVEAL DETAILS & ARTWORK FOR NEW ALBUM

Reading metallers MALEFICE, fresh off their recent tour with Testament, have revealed details for their forthcoming fifth album ‘Five’.

Now with a definitive line up and the heaviest songs they’ve ever written in the pipeline, metal heads around the world had better take note!

Since bursting on to the UK metal music scene in 2007 the band have established their very own unique sound often described as brutal, belligerent, bold and undeniably British.

Singer Dale comments: “After being written off we’re back to where we thrive the most. Being the underdog. We’ve always delivered something new and exciting in adversity and this time is no exception. The changes we have made have given us time to regroup and reinvent the sound of this band.  Expect more bounce than ever, more hate than ever and more soul than ever. This is a record of feelings, how we are, where we want to be and where we will get to. This is the album we always wanted to write, where the evolution has taken us and has renewed our ‘take no prisoners’ attitude, something we always have at our live shows, you can hear the clarion call to arms in this recording. All music is a personal statement, this is our statement that no matter what, nothing can hold us back, nothing will keep us down and together we can, will and have survived all the bullshit thrown at us. This record represents everything we are as a collective and as individuals. It’ll be the soundtrack to your parties in 2013.”

Track list:
1. V
2. The Great Deceiver
3. Never Say Die
4. Wasted
5. Time
6. Blueprints
7. Reach Up

Five’ will be released through Transcend Music on April 28th.
