main stage at DOWNLOAD in June

Six months ago British metal champions Sacred Mother Tongue released their first new music in three years to enormous critical acclaim from the rock and metal fraternity. That EP, ‘A Light Shines’, was their marker in the sand, their roar of intent, that signalled a band transcending its past in leaps and bounds and seizing the future with both hands.

And now, while many of today’s biggest bands are already sounding like yesterday’s news, Sacred Mother Tongue are standing on the brink of a major breakthrough as they prepare to unleash their glorious second studio album Out Of The Darkness.

Such is the sheer scale and ambition of this revitalized band that not only have EMI Label Services joined forces with them to release the album in the UK and Europe, but in the US Brooklyn indie label The End, (home to The Prodigy, HIM, While She Sleeps, Fatboy Slim, The Charlatans and many more) will be following suit and releasing the album there too. Factor in the might of Live Nation who have taken on the band, believing in their global potential as THE next massive metal act to emerge from the UK, and you have a band primed for worldwide domination.

With Out Of The Darkness Sacred Mother Tongue have laid down the gauntlet for all British metal acts to follow. With a barrage of live shows to come over the next few months, and a show-stealing mainstage appearance at Download lined up, the sky’s the limit for what this band can achieve.

“We’ve been a band for a long time and it’s been hard work, but hopefully it’s time for people to realise that we’re not going away!” says Andy. “I know people will take us more seriously now. We don’t need to fit into any trend. Maybe we’re starting one!”

“I don’t know if we’re ever gonna be that cool band because that’s not what we’re about,” concludes Darrin. “Maybe it’s because we’re a bit older or not pretty enough or because we don’t wear skinny jeans. Who knows? Personally, I think it keeps us as real musicians and not just some pop band. I’d rather be respected like Pantera or Machine Head than some band that blows up for two minutes and does fuck all afterwards. As far as fame, wealth and world domination goes, I just want us to be recognised as a great band making great music.”

That recognition is about to start rolling in…

BRAND NEW ALKALINE TRIO SONG ‘Torture Doctor’ PREMIERING ON SPIN.COM

Alkaline_Trio_Press_Photo_JW_056

Alkaline Trio are premiering a brand new song – ‘Torture Doctor’, from their upcoming album My Shame Is True (out Apr-1) – over at Spin.com.

Check the new track out here: http://www.spin.com/articles/alkaline-trio-torture-doctor-new-song-my-shame-is-true

It’s been three years since Alkaline Trio’s This Addiction, the Chicago pop-punk vets’ Epitaph debut and an LP that was heralded at times as a return to their roots and turn-of-the-century form. But on April 1, they’ll release My Shame Is True, a full-length outing equal to if not stronger than the white-knuckled theatrics of Goddamnit! and Maybe I’ll Catch Fire, as evidenced by ‘Torture Doctor’, an organ-enriched monster replete with its own “hey’s” and “ho’s” at a moment when those couldn’t be in higher demand.

VIZA RELEASE VIDEO FOR ‘A MAGIC LADDER’

viza_2012

Viza are premiering their film noir music video, ‘A Magic Ladder’ on their very own Youtube channel.

Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPFrxiOhajU

The video embodies a new direction for the group’s strong history of creative music videos, featuring a cinematic style set in the 1940s to couch the band’s musical alchemy represented by ‘A Magic Ladder’. Director Jasmine Daghighian and Producer Jacob Halajian joined team Viza to help realise the vision of bringing ‘A Magic Ladder’ into a music video setting with a unique and tasteful concept.  The song features the band’s strong tradition of fusing different styles, including intertwining oud and guitar melodies, dynamic percussion and provocative lyrics.

“This video takes one of our most balanced and touching efforts and brings it to life – it was a great experience for all of us to outline the concept and work together in making this all come to fruition,” states oud player Andrew Kzirian. “Personally this music video allowed me to hone in on my acting skills, which was an artistically enriching experience,” says singer K’noup. “I died for this video,” jokes Viza guitarist Shant Bismejian.

The video is the fifth installment in Viza’s music videography, following ‘Breakout the Violins’ (Tadeh Daschi), ‘Trans-Siberian Standoff’ (Tadeh Daschi), ‘Carnivalia’ (Shant Hamassian) and the cover song ‘Whiskey Bar / Alabama Song’ (Shant Hamassian).

The idea of making the music video came originally from me defining the ‘magic ladder’ for myself. I decided that the magic ladder represented unrequited love. Something you couldn’t get that you were always chasing… I personified that elusive feeling to be a femme fatale. The ultimate thing that you want but can never get. That’s what led me to go with a film noir setting that I wanted to blend with the band’s distinct style,” states director Daghigian.

SACRED MOTHER TONGUE – BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘A LIGHT WILL SHINE’

BRAND NEW SINGLE ‘A LIGHT WILL SHINE

RELEASED APRIL 7TH

 **JUST ANNOUNCED**

DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL

Main Stage, Sunday 16th June

supporting RAMMSTEIN

SMT_single_cover

Fast-rising British metal heroes Sacred Mother Tongue are proud to announce the release of their upcoming single ‘A Light Will Shine’. Released on April 7th it’s one of the highlights from their forthcoming second album, ‘Out Of The Darkness’ which is released a week later on April 15th, through EMI Label Services.

‘A Light Will Shine’ showcases Sacred Mother Tongue’s turbo-charged power, roaring out of the speakers with all the heaviness and aggression of prime metal, firing skyscraping solos from guitarist Andy James’ magical fingertips and boasting singer Darrin South’s commanding vocals, propelled along by the brutal but beautiful grind of Josh Gurner’s bone-crushing bass and Lee Newell’s furious drum attack.

The video, shot in deepest Wales, sees Darrin being buried alive by his sombre bandmates with only a spark of light to sustain him as he struggles to escape. A metaphor for his journey from darkness into light perhaps, echoing the sentiment of the lyric, “only I can save me”, or maybe just some cool visuals to fit the mood of the song – either way the original shoot had to be abandoned due to heavy snowfall putting their lives at risk, being re-shot two weeks later once the ground had thawed enough to dig a grave.

You can watch the video on this link:  http://vevo.ly/14WsL1Z

More information regarding Sacred Mother Tongue’s second album, ‘Out Of The Darkness’ will be announced soon, along with further exciting news regarding the band’s upcoming live performances. As previously announced they will also soon be touring the UK with Grammy Award winning US rockers Halestorm (see dates below).

DANZIG – 25th ANNIVERSARY + Misfits Set with Special Guest Doyle

DanzigNYCcc061810_0695_1

To mark the 25th anniversary of his solo album of the same name, Horror Punk icon DANZIG will be playing a 3-date UK headline tour later this year – his first since 2005.

Proceedings kick off at Manchester’s Academy on 19th June, hitting Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall the next day and ending this milestone celebration at London’s famous Roundhouse venue on 24th June.

GLENN DANZIG, through his work with legendary punk acts SAMHAIN and MISFITS, formed the backbone of today’s mosh movement, with his far reaching influence still evident in bands whose members were yet to be conceived years before “DANZIG” was even recorded. Conversely, his influence works in both directions, with his music having been covered by a very diverse collection of artists that includes Roy Orbison, Metallica and Johnny Cash.

In a career that has spanned across 5 decades, DANZIG has mastered a meld of punk, doom, gothic new wave and an intense California twist on black Satanic metal, culminating in a display of shockingly dark hard rock that sends chills the likes of which today’s Norwegian church-burners could never know.

The prospect of hearing “Mother”, “Twist Of Cain”, “Am I Demon” and “She Rides” live would be enough to whet the appetites of any fans, but perhaps most poignant will be the addition of Doyle Von Frankenstein at all three shows. This will mark the first and perhaps only time that UK audiences will see Danzig and Doyle perform a Misfits set together in addition to the full Danzig set, and is not to be missed.

Catch DANZIG (with special guest Doyle Von Frankenstein) live at these shows:

 19 June – Manchester, Academy

20 June – Wolverhampton, Civic Hall

24 June – London, Roundhouse

HIM REVEALS NEW ALBUM DETAILS

TEARS ON TAPE TO BE RELEASED IN UK & IRELAND VIA DOUBLECROSS APRIL 29TH 2013

EXCLUSIVE INTIMATE SHOW AT LONDON’S DINGWALLS APRIL 26TH

HIM_2013

VALENTINE’S DAY 2013:

Finnish rock giants HIM have revealed the details of their long awaited, highly anticipated, brand new studio album.

Recorded in their home country with long-time producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, the new album – titled Tears On Tape – is scheduled for release in UK & Ireland on April 29th via Cooking Vinyl’s rock imprint DoubleCross. The album will be released in the U.S. and Canada the following day (April 30th) on Razor & Tie.

Fresh from mastering the album in New York, Ville Valo stated:- “Cooking Vinyl’s history speaks for itself and for some unfathomable reason they have clearly understood HIM’s rather perverse musical fetishes (which is as rare as hen’s teeth !). DoubleCross (of the inverted kind) here we come!”

Formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist MikkoLindeLindström, and bassist MikkoMigéPaananen, HIM’s previous seven albums have seen them win a worldwide following, becoming the first Finnish act to achieve platinum sales status in the US.

A formidable live act, the band is currently limbering up for dates in 2013, including a highly anticipated appearance at Download Festival.

The band will also perform an extremely exclusive show at London’s Dingwalls venue on April 26th, giving fans their first chance to hear the new material in a very intimate setting before the album hits the shelves. Tickets go on sale at 9 am Monday 18th Feb 2013 from http://www.livenation.co.uk/artist/him-tickets

HIM are: Ville, Mige, Linde, Burton and Gas.
